I think the Bucks take 4 OL's in 2009. The class will number about 24. That is a large class. Bollman is very selective in what he is looking for. The Bucks appear to be going with a Jenkins or bust approach to 2008. I'm not sure Sanders or German get an offer at this point.

Let me solve half that riddle for you...Sanders will not be getting an offer...period, paragraph.

Wouldn't it be pretty easy to get 4 solid in-state linemen next season? Harris and Hall look like early offers. McShane from Walsh Jesuit is very good from what I've been hearing. I don't think we'll be getting elite OOS linemen next year(maybe on defense), but getting 4 or 5 instaters shouldn't be very difficult.

Thanks Wadc45. Do you know why the staff is not high on Sanders? Is it because we already have 2 OT's in this class?

Pretty much... I believe that Adams and Shugarts (and possibly even Brewster) were higher on the OT board for the staff... Reasons for that are thought to be because Sanders is not adept at run-blocking (due to Northmont's spread offense; think Connor Smith in reverse)... Also there have been questions about his disposition and ability to give consistent effort on the field...
Zebrie's a big block of clay right now... Needs to hit the weights and work on his run-blocking, but he's got the frame and long-arms that coaches look for...

Being from the schools that they are, Harris and Hall could possibly be penciled in if/when the offer comes... Both could just as easily be DT's as well, which gives them the versatility that our staff loves...
I haven't seen enough others yet to figure out who else stands out in OH... I know there was a guy for Trotwood that looked like a future stud (name escapes me), but I believe he is not playing football any longer...

Chris Freeman. It has been suggested that he may come out for football this year, but I've not heard that he definitely has. At 6-8 295, and with the agility of a power forward, he would certainly have recruiters taking a close look should he decide to give football another try.

That's the guy... Thanks Hodgepodge... And I don't believe he is currently with the team...

I'm happy with having at least 10 on schollie (enough to field a 2 deep of scholarship players) and fill in the rest with quality walk-ons. Well "happy" isn't the word, more like "easier to deal with."

To me, having only two-deep in the OL is totally unacceptable.

Here's our current scholarship totals on offense by position:

QB: 3
RB: 4
FB: 4
TE: 4
WR: 9 (Torrence at WR)
OL: 11
Offensive total: 35

I see no reason why we can't have 2-3 more OL on hand...

I went and looked up T-M's roster, and indeed he is not on the team. Greg Gainey, who was supposed to be a younger clone of Brandon Moore, is also not on the roster. These two, along with Desmar Jackson, represent three extremely talented athletes who just don't have the desire to be football players, unfortunately.

Did you mean unacceptable for just a 2 deep period or for scholarship players?

If we had just a 2 deep period I'd be hysterical (sadly), but I was saying at least a 2 deep of schollie players and 4-5 quality walk-ons.

If you were saying the second scenerio is unacceptable as well, I can easily understand that stance as well, I just think we could get by.

Two-deep for scholarship players. With the amount of total scholarships available (85), there is absolutely no reason to be that low on scholarship OL...we should never have to rely on walk-ons. To say that you'd be happy if we were two-deep at OL only strengthens my point. This article touches the depth issue.

Didn't say I'd be happy, I made a specific point of stating happy wasn't the word. I stated it would be "easier to deal with."

With that said you are preaching to the converted. I would LOVE to see quite a few more Olineman because if there are any injuries (like we have now) we hurt.
