Actually just the top 40 for now, but the list will eventually be expanded to 100...

Free Rivals

5/16

OSU targets include:

#2 Xavier Henry
#9 Kenny Boynton
#31 Stephen Van Treese

Looking at that list it seems most of the players came from about 8 states. I didnt see any from Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina, Missouri, Louisiana or Kentucky, which are all good states for producing talent.

At this point there isnt one from Ohio that I would put on that list, or at least there isnt anyone that I have heard of...

Michigan has DaShonte Riley (#16) on that list. The state isn't brimming with talent, but there are a few high majors. Dion Sims (I believe) is a very good wing player. He transfered this year, so he couldn't play this basketball season. He's probably a UM lock (dad works for UM), but he had a 2.0 or so GPA.

Agree OBJ...I think he was higher on the list at one point, but has not developed as much as some would have expected. As things sit right now, I have to believe there are higher priorities in the '09 class.

Van Tresse has to prove he can be consistent this year....I am not completely sold on the fact he is high on the list at this point.....
With JS and hopefully Thomas coming in 2010, I would love to have a SG and that's it for 2009. I am in agreement with you VT can wait.

I think if VT was a 08 recruit, he'd be a higher priority. He strikes me as a project right now. I think there's more to his development than just consistency.

If we were taking a bigger 09 class, he'd definitely be a more important target IMO, but It seems like Matta wants an elite wing and that's it for 2009.

Lets be clear that he is a good looking prospect, but things have changed for the staff since his offer......targets have gone up and down the board.......this is not a knock on Van Treese but when I see him play he is a little stiff and seems to lose focus when he faces elite competition.

It's almost like they let Thad and the staff do these rankings, because the rankings look almost like their board...
