Identity missing....
  • The Ohio State University Men's Hockey team opens their season Friday night, October 15th at Value City Arena against the Colonials of Robert Morris.

The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a 2010-11 Men's Hockey poster.

Following the game there will be an autograph session by members of the 2010-11 squad.

Tickets are still available for the game.

    :oh: :io:

I was going to attempt to upload the .pdf file that the Ohio State Athletic department sent me, but it was too big.

I therefore have uploaded it to a file sharing site that I control.

    Ohio State vs. Robert Morris

The link is legit. Go Bucks!!!

Got my tickets, excited to see the new coach. I actually saved some fees this year by going through ticket sales instead of the ticket office/online, guess they don't have all the Ticket Master fees or something. Here's the number I called 292-4797.

Glad Osiecki is getting so many seniors, hopefully will make his first year more smooth. The woman's team looks good this year too.

Four to Wear 'C's for the Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Seniors John Albert, Peter Boyd and Sergio Somma and junior Sean Duddy have been elected captains for the Ohio State men's hockey team this season. The players, who were voted on by their teammates, will all wear 'C's on their jerseys for each game, beginning tonight vs. Robert Morris.

"We felt as a staff there was power in numbers," Mark Osiecki, in his first year as the Buckeyes' head coach, said. "There wasn't a clear-cut choice for our captain after the team vote so we ended up with the four players who will all wear 'C's for us this season."

Boyd will have a letter for the third time in his career. He donned a 'C' as a sophomore and was one of four alternate captains last year. Somma began wearing an 'A' late in his sophomore campaign and also wore an 'A' for the squad a season ago.
The first game of the season starts in approximately 10 minutes.

I'm not expecting miracles this year. Hell, I'm not even expecting good hockey until the last 10 or so CCHA games. These kids have had two or three years of zero talent development under Markell. That's not going to be undone in a few practices. Let's see if they can hold their own down the stretch, then move into next year with some moderate expectations such as a first round CCHA playoff win.

After losing 2-1 on Friday night Buckeyes come back on Saturday to split the 2 games.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Trailing 3-2 entering the final period, the Ohio State men's hockey team scored three unanswered goals for a 5-3 victory at Ferris State Saturday night in Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich. After Sergio Somma tied the score at 3 in the third period, John Albert put the Buckeyes ahead at 10:51 and sealed the win with an empty-net goal. Albert (2g, 1a), Shane Sims (1g, 2a) and Somma (1g, 2a) each had three points for the Buckeyes, while freshman defenseman Curtis Gedig had two helpers.

The victory gives the Buckeyes (2-3-0, 1-1-0-0 CCHA) a series split with the Bulldogs (4-2-0, 1-1-0-0 CCHA) in the first conference series for both teams. Ferris State won the opener, 2-1, Friday.

"We had the same strong start as we had yesterday, which is where we want to be each game," Mark Osiecki, Ohio State head coach, said. "We had a tough second period when we took too many penalties and too many long shifts, but we hung in there and gave ourselves a chance, going into intermission down by just a goal.

    A weekend split

    Columbus Ohio-
Buckeye junior Danny Dries scored twice, including an extra attacker tally with just 10 seconds remaining, and netted the only shootout goal as the Ohio State men?s hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie and shootout win with No. 14 Alaska Friday afternoon in Nationwide Arena.

The Buckeyes (5-6-1, 2-4-1-1 CCHA) and Nanooks (7-5-3, 4-4-3-2 CCHA) will wrap up the series at 8:05 p.m. Saturday in Nationwide Arena.

The Buckeyes trailed by two twice in the game but controlled play in the third, outshooting the Nanooks, 18-4, and Dries was able to beat the Nanook goalie to force overtime. Alaska led 1-0 after the first period. In the second the Nanooks went ahead 2-0 on a shorthanded goal but Dries responded just 31 seconds later to draw the Buckeyes within one (2-1). Alaska regained a two-goal edge later in the period but Peter Boyd tallied to make the score 3-2 after the second. The Nanooks held the one-goal lead until just 10 seconds remained in regulation. Neither team was able to score in overtime, leading to the Buckeyes? first shootout of the year. Buckeye goalie Cal Heeter had three saves in the shootout, and Dries? goal in the third round stood as the winner.
