Hartfield also places 6th in the Long Jump.
That's a great confidence builder for him... excited to see what he can do next year.

Buckeye results from yesterday
3000m Steeplechase Finals - Cory Leslie finished his spectacular year with a 9th place finish at the Trials (8:33.94). Former Buckeye great Brian Olinger finished 11th (8:37.93).

1500m - Cory did not run since the steeplechase finals were on the same day. Former Buckeye All-American Jeff See qualified for the semi-finals (3:42.03).

400m Hurdles - USATF did qualify enough athletes for Antonio Blanks to run. He ended up 6th in his heat (51.11), but that was good enough to grab the last time advancement to the semi-finals. He runs in the semis today at 6:35PM EST.

Of historic note, Galen Rupp broke Steve Prefontaine's 5000m record by a few tenths of a second (13:22.67 vs. 13:22.80). Steve set the record on July 9, 1972. I believe that was the oldest Trials record.

Buckeyes in action today (all times EST)
Antonio Blanks, 400m Hurdles Semi-Finals - 6:35PM
Joel Brown, 110m Hurdles Prelims - 7:05PM
Jeff See, 1500m Semi-Finals -7:25PM

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Brice Allen has been named associate head coach and recruiting coordinator for the Ohio State men's track and field and cross country programs, head coach Ed Beathea announced Friday. Allen will coach the cross country team as well the distance runners for track and field.

Allen comes to Ohio State after a one-year hiatus from coaching. Previously, Allen served as distance coach at the University of Louisville for a total of seven years. He held the position of head men's and women's cross country coach from 2008-10 after working as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for both programs for four years.

"Brice is a perfect fit for our program," Beathea said. "His resume speaks for itself, both on the track and on the recruiting trail. He is going to be a terrific addition to our staff as a coach, teacher and recruiter."

This seems like a great hire.

Nice article about Antonio Blanks. Didn't realize he is on a full ride through the Young Scholars Program. An All-American that costs nothing is certainly a nice treat for the coaching staff.

This is a church story of sorts, except that in this one, Moses doesn?t come down from the mount to deliver a couple of stone tablets chiseled with 10 commandments. Instead, he calls and gives a pep talk and some pointed advice before flying over to London to prepare for next month?s Olympic Games.
And then Moses? mom offers up some more tips following services at Bethel Baptist Church in Dayton last Sunday.
Antonio Blanks ? the former Dayton Dunbar track standout who?s just a freshman at Ohio State ? surprised everyone recently and qualified to run the 400 meter hurdles this week at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Ore.
That race was long owned by another Dayton guy from the same West Dayton neighborhood and same church as Blanks.
