2011 tOSU Offense Discussion

Agreed. We have inarguably young/inexperienced players, but they all have plenty of athletic ability. We have to coach/manage to their strengths while the catch up with the college game. Sending the receivers deep on every pass play is moronic. They can't get or stay open and the time it takes the play to develop gets Braxton killed. Run them on slants or get the backs open in the flats and let them do whatever they can in space.

Princeton basketball doesn't try to be LoyolafcukingMarymount.

And a lot will depend on the team chemistry. It turns out that the 2010 Florida squad had huge problems. The offensive and defensive sides disliked each other. The freshman and the upperclassmen had a huge war going on and did not like each other. The new guys had a sense of entitlement that the seniors found maddening, and the freshmen thought the upperclassmen had a superior attitude. After all of our prior success, we were marked on everyone's calendar and had to give our best efforts. We had a coach (Addazio) taking over for Meyer in most capacities, but especially in taking over as the new OC. We had a boat load of skill, and years of great recruits, but they did not "gell". No matter how well we do now that Brantley is out, at least the team is a "team" again in mindset.

I hope that your problems are of the growing pains for young guys type - the missing your suspended stars type - and not a team chemistry issue like we suffered last year. If that happens you can be set back in a big way even though you have players that on paper should be world beaters.

This is what I'm afraid of. If things get worse, you can fully expect this type of atmosphere.

As bizarre as it sounds, we could win our division and still play for the Big Championship!
Nebraska really doesn't count at this point. Not our division.
This will take first beating Illinois at Champaign. I think this is still doable.
Then you have 2 weeks to prepare for Wiscy in the 'Shoe!

Not sure what this has to do with the offense but I think you're wrong.

All the conference loses count. Add to that Wisconsin is in our division and so is Illinois and neither are sporting a loss in conference play or otherwise. If tOSU loses to UNL they will still have 2 conference losses it doesn't matter if it's to leaders or legends they all count the same. If I'm wrong I apologize in advance for misunderstanding the B1G division breakdown.

They can't lose anymore conference games if they plan on winning the B1G because wiscy looks like the team to beat in the leaders div. Gonna be a long season. *sigh*:(

Last night I watched this week's Buckeye Blitz. The stat was brought up, that 50% of our plays against MSU, resulted in a loss or no gain. It's hard for me to believe with all the four and five star kids that's all were getting.:(

It's a space-time continuim thing. You would have no reason to know that though if you were not an Offensive Coordinator...

I remember that RR was getting similar stats at UM his first season.

So we just need to give things time.
