2011 TSUN shenanigans and arguments (off season)

that's what I don't understand about Cooper. I've heard a lot over the years about him "not getting the rivalry" either because he was an outside guy brought in, but dang, since he left coaching, he's been a pretty large staple at osu. I mean he still has an office at osu right? is he still on the osu payroll in some capacity? Like the poster said, he was in NO supporting, for an outsider who couldn't beat Michigan, he sure seems to have embraced the buckeye lifestyle, even long after his tenure was over.

I think John Cooper "gets it" but he didn't catch on until he was already buried. By the time he did, I don't think he had any choice but to pretend it was just another game. The pressure had become too great for anything else.

13 years, 2 wins. I find it hard to believe that Rodriguez would lose 11 more times in a row.

3 years, 15 wins. The Game aside, DickRod isn't fit to hold John Cooper's jock.

That's not apples to apples. If DickRod had suckered the administration into keeping him, 11 more losses in a row would equal:

14 years, 0 wins.
vs.
13 years, 2 wins.

to be apples to apples, DickRod would have only needed to lose the next 10 in a row. Could he have won one? Probably, through sheer luck. Could he have won two? Possibly, after all, anything can happen in the world of chance. Three? Now that's being overly optimistic...really, there's no way. Using the ten in a row timeline:

JC = 13 years - 10 losses.
RR = 13 years - 11, 12, or 13 losses.

No kidding. It's time to bury the "Rodriguez is their Cooper" meme. scUM at this point can only dream of finding someone who can be half the coach John Cooper was. JC wouldn't let RichRod mix his team's Gatorade. :tongue2:

I was speaking solely in terms of The Game. Rodriguez is in no way like Cooper in all aspects of games not related to The Game.

In the first 4-5 years of his time at OSU Coop actually had OSU playing very tough in The Game considering how badly he was out-manned. The choke artist shit didn't start until '93-'94 iirc.

1988: OSU 31 - 34 UM
1989: OSU 18 - 28 UM
1990: OSU 13 - 16 UM
1991: OSU _3 - 31 UM
1992: OSU 13 - 13 UM
1993: OSU _0 - 28 UM
1994: OSU 22 - _6 UM
1995: OSU 23 - 31 UM
1996: OSU _9 - 13 UM
1997: OSU 14 - 20 UM
1998: OSU 31 - 16 UM
1999: OSU 17 - 24 UM
2000: OSU 26 - 38 UM

So, Coop had two blow-out losses (1991, 1993), and was competitive in all of the other games. Average score: OSU 16.9 - 22.9 UM.

Take out the two blow-out losses, and the average score is: OSU 19.7 - 21.7 UM

What really cemented Coop's legacy was losing the 1995 and 1996 Games, when Ohio State had clearly superior talent. Win those games, and Ohio State is playing for national championships.

On the other hand, RichRod had two blow losses in his three Games, with an average score of: OSU 33.3 - 8.0 UM

I know that it's fashionable to rip Coop ... and it's rather easy with Tress in charge ... but Coop > > > > > > > RichRod

Also, Coop only lost by 3, 10, 3, 8, 4, 6, 7, and 12 points and was embarrassed by 28 points twice.

Rodriguez lost by 35, 11, and 30 points. In other words, it only took Rodriguez 3 games combined to lose by more than Cooper did in 8 of his losses combined and has already lost by more points twice than Cooper ever did.

In other other words, at least Cooper was competitive a majority of the time.

Edit: shit, missed it by four minutes. That's what I get for spell checking.

Doesn't anyone else find it hilarious (beyond what's being mentioned) that tsun wanted to "move into the 21st century" with RR, yet is going to go back to the "old guard" with Miles or Hoke? Of course, they are going back to the old guard after their move into the 21st century totally destroyed their program. They are an absolute mockery no matter what they do at this point.

The knock on Miles is his success was with Sabans players and he's underperformed since then.

Now he's going to willfully walk into a situation where he's going to be simply outgunned athlete for athlete for the next 3 years, can't oversign, doesn't have a significant instate talent base, has higher academic standards and can't cheat? He's going to willfully put his balls up on the chopping block and give the cleaver to his detractors?

I know he's bat shit crazy but this (if true) is fucking retarded.

Hoke is the one with the track record of rebuilding and doesn't have the brand name to sully with the first 3 years.

I know there aren't many of them that are very smart but scUM fans have to be able to see the obvious concerns about Miles.

Is it too soon to start the 2012 TSUN shenanigans thread and begin making fun of them for their impending 2012 season as well?

Their schedule alone has me laughing already...Bama, ND, Neb, MSU, Iowa, OSU....oh my!
