Nathan Williams assuming he comes back healthy.
My problem with that is, what position does he play in the League? Moving a 250-something Ohio State defensive end to OLB in the pros didn't work out very well for the Jets, and NFL scouts have a long memory. Cam Heyward isn't setting Heinz Field afire right now either, which doesn't help.

Not saying Nate won't do well as a pro, but I haven't seen the kind of sudden, unstoppable pass rush from him that I'd need to see to justify low round draft. JMO.

Most these players are really young, hard to see if they'll be pros or not.

I think of the upperclassmen next year, Hankins and Simon are the best bets then Mewhort, Norwell, Fragel, Stoneburner all have a lot of talent.

Don't see NFL talent yet with Barnett or Bryant but they have 2 years to get better. Barnett is a much better player now but see more upside with Bryant. Roby had a great season, Howard still has some hope and Clarke hopefully will get used more by the new staff.

A lot of talent on the team, just have to start playing up to it.

We'll see if Fragel gets moved to tackle and how he does, if he can't do it then our RT could be a weakness unless Hall gets in gear. Don't think Underwood is a tackle but have been wrong plenty before.

You could be right, but I think he has the potential to prove his low-round draft status in his final year. I tend to think that NFL scouts evaluate each player on his own merits, so I don't think Gholston, Gibson, etc. will have much of an impact on Nate's draft stock. FWIW, I think Nate is a much more natural fit at linebacker than either of those two were, however.

Excellent question. Offhand, I'd say that Shazier, Roby and maybe Jonathan Hankins are the best bets. John Simon may be a candidate also, and Braxton has the potential to be if his accuracy improves. Nobody else jumps out at me.
those three definitely have top two round potential. Simon will be a second rounder after his workout, and Williams will probably be 3-4 without a breakout year.

Stoneburner has the potential to fly up the draft boards in Urban's offense. he really wanted Jake in Gainesville.

Jordan Hall becomes a lot more valuable in the next offense. Ball would be good.

OSU does not have their usual crop of 3-5 NFL receivers in one unit. Posey graduates, but the upperclassmen have a ways to go.

just go get dorial green beckham & diggs and we will be fine :p

I am just praying for some very high quality tackles for this class. Ones that can come in and play right away. Diamond and Dodson would be perfect. Go Bucks

Same. As of now, the scenario appears to be Norwell at LT and Underwood at RT, both of which are out of position. We need a true LT like Dodson, Diamond, or Henry from UA...I really think Norwell is a RT and Underwood should be an interior lineman. Sure, guys like Hall, Underwood, and Mewhort CAN play tackle, but it just isn't their natural position. The only true tackles we have are Norwell and maybe Brown...our lack of true tackles could really end up hurting us, even if we land some big names down the stretch.

I think you're right on target in saying Williams has more OLB potential than either Gholston or Gibson. He's looked very capable when he's played LB the past couple of years. I wouldn't be surprised, actually, to see him starting at LB under Meyer.

Free 24/7- Meyer's hiring to impact 2012 class

Steve Wiltfong

Ohio State currently holds 16 commits in the class of 2012, with 14 pledges coming from in-state prospects.

With the hiring of Urban Meyer on Monday, look for the Buckeyes to finish strong.

With Ohio State getting a guy of Meyer's caliber and reputation, prospects from all over the country will at least take the time to hear what he has to say.

Mark down the nation's top cornerback and No. 19 prospect overall in Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco's Yuri Wright as someone that would like to hear from Meyer. Michigan and Rutgers currently top his list.

"That's good news," Wright said, adding when asked if he'd be interested in the Buckeyes, "heck yeah."

Chicago (Ill.) Simeon offensive tackle Jordan Diamond already had Ohio State among his top schools, along with the likes of Arkansas, Iowa, Miami, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Continued...

Expect to see some new names like Wright as well as some old name resurrected...this article alone mentions Yuri Wright, Armani Reeves and Wes Brown. We will create new threads as we see fit...

sorry for going too far OT, but...

just b/c one DE didn't transition well to OLB in the pros doesn't mean that it can't work. Every single OLB in the NFL that plays in a 3-4 pretty much was a DE in college. Gholston's problem wasn't that he couldn't play linebacker, he couldn't play anywhere. He was no good as a DE either. Heyward is a rookie in Pittsburgh playing backup to pro bowler Aaron Smith, give him time, cripe. I don't think the NFL people will shy on Williams b/c he played for Ohio State. Will Smith is a great NFL DE and played for Ohio State.

Heyward will be a stud in Pittsburgh.

It's not fair to write him off as a bust because he isn't putting up Pro-Bowl numbers as a rookie. He's got 11 games played; 7 solo tackles, a sack and a forced fumble - with 5 games to play. For comparison, as a rookie, Lamarr Woodley played in 13 games, had 14 solos, 4 sacks and a forced fumble.

That's been floating since the news broke last week. If a prospect like Kiel wants on board, you take him. Will he? I have no earthly idea, but it would sure be nice.

It is typically tough to bring in a blue chip QB when you have another blue chipper in Miller set to start the next three years. If anyone can do it, I guess it is Meyer.

Yeah, it can be a roadblock, but Meyer had no problem doing it at UF, Carroll did it with regularity at USC, Stoops does it, Mack did it at Texas until recently. If you build something secial, kids want to be a part of it.

Kiel would be coming in with a year seperation, could be 2 with a likely RS season as a frosh giving him 2 solid years as a starter once Brax moved on...
