2014 Bowl Games Open Thread

Here's to the Big (0 and) Ten.

2014 bowl game Vegas lines have Big Ten as underdogs in all 10 Big Ten games

The Big Ten is likely to face some heat once again. The conference isn't expected to win a game this postseason, according to Vegas, while the SEC is expected to win at least 75 percent of its games...

Another "journalist" shows they don't know what lines mean. They're a reflection of what "Vegas" thinks the betting public will think. Their job is to keep money on both sides of the line so "Vegas" wins no matter who wins. They aren't making final score predictions.

I didn't read the article, but by saying "the conference isn't expected to win a game this postseason, according to Vegas" isn't he implying just that?

Ohio State vs Alabama @ NOLA
Sparty vs Baylor @ Dallas
Wisconsin vs Auburn @ Tampa
Minniesota vs Mizzou @ Orlando
Iowa vs Tennessee @ Jacksonville
Nebraska vs USC @ San Diego
Penn State vs Boston College @ New Jersey
Rutgers vs North Carolina @ Detroit (!)
Illinois vs Louisiana Tech @ Dallas
Maryland vs Stanford @ Santa Clara

Why are there no Big Ten teams favored in bowl games?Because Big Ten teams have to travel out of their region in all but two games. 'Bama drives less than 400 miles, Baylor less than three hours. Not to mention the fact that tickets not bought and sold by the schools will be bought by local folks in the hosting area, hardly a breeding ground for Big Ten fans. USC can get to San Diego by AMTRAC and still have a six hour advantage on Nebraska. Stanford could pile their shit onto blocking sleds and push their way to Santa Clara.

Why do we not see Big Ten one coach, one AD or Delaney saying anything about the built in inequity in the bowl system.
