Funny thing is I went to look up Jeters season by WAR on Fangraphs and in the process looked up to see who had the best year of all MLB shortstops.....Johnny fucking Peralta for the goddamn Cardinals.

Does anyone go there and NOT have a career year?

Ever?

They should dig up Ted Williams corpse, sew his head back on and see if he doesn't hit .450. It's fucking amazing.

I have no love for the Yankees, but Derek Jeter is as iconic as it gets in this generation. 6th all time in hits for a sport that has been played for 150 years. That transcends generations, baseball eras, wars, and more and connects his name to history. It's hard to believe that when you think about 'lucky' people that got to see DiMaggio, Marris, Ruth, Williams, Mays, etc. and now I get to realize that I got to see who others will talk about for 100 years.

Cool to see.
You might want to avoid Keith Olbermann's piece in Huffpo

KC just made it REAL interesting now. Pretty amazing they had the tying run on third, one out, but still managed to blow it with back-to-back K's.
