Game Thread 2015 National Championship Game: (2) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 12th @ 8:30p ET, ESPN

Hey, cut them some slack, they're trying to compete w/the looney tune buffoons at the SEC network. A very high bar to overcome.

I might have felt differently about Oregon before the Alabama game, but I think the Bucks are the better team, just a matter of how much better.

Perverse thought: What if Urban asked BTN to make the Bucks look like 'dogs? Playing that underdog card has been good for him.

The last time Ohio State won a National Championship I celebrated by updating my Away Message on AOL Instant Messenger.

Needless to say, it's about time I move into the modern age of social media and bombard my Friends and Followers with excessive happiness tomorrow night. Get it done, Buckeyes.

Holy [Mark May].

Pshaw, the last time before that I celebrated by floating around in amniotic fluid and kicking my mom. Time to add another one to the ledger.

Everybody keeps pointing to the Rose Bowl and how Oregon beat up FSU and using that as reasoning for why they're going to beat us. Granted, it was a big win against a top ranked team, but anybody that thinks FSU is a good indicator of what we'll bring is delusional.

Personally hoping the Ducks had overrated FSU as much as their fans and the committee. If anybody didn't belong in the final four, it was that clown show. But, it would be great if the apparent ease of victory in the Rose has given the Ducks a case of overconfidence. Any little psychological edge is a good edge.

I would love to see our lines come in and control the LoS on both sides of the ball. I think we have the second most physical set of lines in the final 4 and we just beat the most physical. IMO the ACC and Pac12 are nowhere near as physical as the B1G and SEC, but we'll find out tomorrow. It takes a quarter to settle in and see who is punching who in the mouth. I'd look for us to go straight at the Ducks rather than going side to side like we did with Bama.

I did this for the last game and I'm bored enough to do it for this game...

OU OL vs OSU DL- I think overall we will give them a rough time but the tempo may equalize things a bit. However if we can harrass Alabama then I will give us a slight edge.

OU DL vs OSU OL- they have some length but playing 3 down lineman against our OL with LBs acting as rush ends is asking for smash mouth. I think early OU does well but I don't see them lasting late as I think we will take a toll on them. Advantage OSU

OU WR vs OSU DB- I would've said OU with a good margin but having 3 of your top 5 threats out? No way. Slight edge OSU

OU Backs/QB vs OSU LB- edge OU. They are underrated backs and obviously their QB is real. Lee is built for this game but it'll be interesting to see if the other two are because in space Grant and Perry don't seem to be.

OU LB vs OSU backs/QB- not close in osu favor. Zeke is perhaps the best back in america right now.

OU DB vs OSU WR- you don't lose your all america and then be fine. Especiially with two guys as good as Thomas and Smith. Edge osu.

Special teams- about even with field goals, osu has the better coverage teams and punter. I give Oregon the edge returning. Overall draw and maybe slight edge osu because of our punter.

Coaching- hard to bet against Urban in big games

I think that the Buckeye offense will surprise Oregon as much as it did Alabama, but I think Ohio State could be more balanced pass/run.

I think the most surprising thing will be the Silver Bullets. Mariota will be happy he got his Heisman before facing them.

Ohio State 42 - Oregon 31

I think Oregon's offense will be tough to stop even if our DL can control the LoS so I doubt we keep them to fewer points than Bama had even without the TO's. On the other side I think our offense will be the best that the Ducks have seen all season. I'm looking for 350-400 total rushing yards and 150-200 passing. 38-45 good guys with Oregon scoring a late TD to make it looks closer than it was.

Biggest key to the game is to not give up turnovers and easy scores to Oregon. We need to control the clock, jam it down their throat, and keep our defense off the field. Our defense needs to limit big plays and make them work on offense.
