2015 NCAA Basketball Tournament Discussion

Calipari should be arrested. That was a castration with a dull knife.

I almost went to bed at half, but I was paralyzed. It was like watching some horrible event happen, and you want to turn away, but you just keep staring with your mouth open.

Fellas, I've been watching CBB for, well, a long time. Kentucky is ridiculous. I'd love to say they are beatable (they are), but their size and depth just don't give a team a clear path to win. I think WVU was a good team. I think Ky is a great team that played great last night. They will have to be off their game for someone to get them.

Remember how we couldn't stand a certain Florida coach a mere 50-60 months ago? I'm ready to put in 5 bucks to get that one and done thing going at Ohio State.

Greg Marshall will live to regret it if he takes the Alabama job. He's at a school where basketball is king and they are on the national map now. Tide basketball has been a career drag on every guy who has taken it on since Wimp Sanderson's departure.
Marshall should take the money and run while he is hot. The hell with the basketball program if you get a ton of cash.

The Notre Dame and Kentucky game should be very interesting. It is really a quandary for me because I went to a public high school and we always lost to a parochial school and I hate Notre Dame but I do not know if I can root for a cash cow.

I think ND needs to invite jumpers and hope Ky misses a bunch. You can't press because they throw over it. Try to turn them over in the halfcourt. Get them into a grinder and keep the score under 60. For God's sake, don't try to drive and score, because that is just going to result in blocks and run outs. If you drive, it needs to be to kick out. Get as many rebounders in the paint as possible. And as everyone says, hit 12-15 3's. Go to a rotation that helps negate the fatigue factor that Ky's depth causes. They tend to spurt on people at the end of halves. Get yourself within reach with 5 min to go, and maybe the pressure will start to get them. And finally, pray. A lot.

It's Notre Dame, so they should have that covered, amirite?

Anyways, you hit on something that I've been thinking for awhile. "Layups" or shots in the paint are fool's gold against this UK team. A layup is not a layup, even in transition, against the Wildcats because they are baiting you into it. It's pointless. Notre Dame does have the system and type of roster that can hang with UK. Grant is a pro who can distribute, and as a team Notre Dame is very, very good at moving the ball around quickly with their cutting and screening involved.

Beating Kentucky will take a team who is smart, who has guards that can handle pressure and make good decisions, who can hang on the glass, and who are already a team that relies on jump shots within their offense to win games. Notre Dame has most all of that covered (except maybe hanging on the glass, but if you aren't missing on offense it isn't as big a deal). It will take a monumental effort. It means ND has to shoot VERY well, and UK needs to be off. But, ND has the tools. Are they sharp enough on Saturday, that is the question.
