2016-2017 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

At a conference in Maryland and only saw the final score.

Rutgers 66
Buckeyes 57

"Oh, but if we fire Thad we could be really bad!"

We just lost to the worst team in a down B1G.

Oh, joy...

WASHINGTON — Ohio State has returned a signed copy of the NIT postseason agreement for 2017, the NCAA confirmed to The Dispatch.

The agreement is sent to nearly all Division I men's basketball teams starting in late January. Teams that return a signed agreement can change their minds about playing in the NIT, but an NCAA spokesman said such decisions are rare. Last season, LSU went 19-14 overall and 11-7 in the Southeastern Conference but declined an NIT bid after turning in a signed agreement.

Never thought I'd say this, but please follow LSU's lead.

I wish some sort of business advisory could run a complete audit on the Men's Basketball program (maybe even the Women's too) to figure out how to maximize all aspects and figure out where the program could improve.

It sounds like something Urban Meyer would do (I think).

Make it a darn summer project for Fisher students.

While I wish Thad would cite health concerns and step down now, I'm guessing next year has to be a make-or-break for him. If it's another disaster, and given this team combined with no real improvements in recruiting, I don't see how it won't be, GS is going to have to step in and make the change.

The current team should not be rewarded with a trip to California or some other destination.

As a lifelong Buckeye basketball fan, and someone who does not have unreasonable expectations, I have lost all interest. I sure as hell wouldn't be buying season tickets if I lived in Columbus.

I don't expect teams to win every game but I do expect the team to respect the uniform that they wear. The lack of effort was beyond disappointing this year.

Watched the 90's movie "Blue Chips" with Nick Nolte, Shaq and Anfernee Hardaway.

Seems like life is imitating art, because Thad seems like Nolte.

I still like the Bob Cousy line from the movie, "You have horses. What you need are thoroughbreds."

NIT Bracketology

Has us as a 5 seed playing Boise State in the first round

The embarrassment of being a 5 seed in the NIT should be enough to decline the invitation alone. Why play when half the team looks like they have no interest in being out there anyway? Just a kick in the nuts

Nothing gets the competitive juices flowing like a trip to Idaho in March to play a truck driving school in a consolation tournament. I'm sure that'll fire the boys up.

I bet it'll help ol' Thad on the recruiting trail as well. :bonk:

There is a distinct chance they lose to Florida Atlantic, Rutgers and Boise State in the same year.

I mean seriously, have enough dignity to quit and find something you can do above the functional level of the mentally impaired.

I'm talking coaches, players, trainers, ball boy anyone associated with this mess. You aren't any good at what you do. Not any good at all.
