2019-2020 B1G Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

Nebraska won't be great this season but they will get better than that. Their entire team is comprised of a sort of random assemblage of JUCOs, transfers, under the radar frosh, and Thorir Thorfast Thorbagenthorssen. This is the first actual game these guys have ever played together. Hoiberg has a LOT of stuff to figure out over the next year or so, but I do think he has a couple real pieces to work with and some legit athleticism and ability with his guards.

UC Riverside is low major. Nebraska losing to them by 20 is maybe the most damning result of the day. The Huskers would be lucky to win 5 games this season if that performance is at all indicative of their team quality.

They arent even a "good" lower major, 10-23 last year and 9-22 the year before.

Nebraska couldnt hit water from boat anywhere on the court (including the FT line) maybe they just had a really really off night shooting, but woof. 16-55 shooting.

This isn't football. Those guys beat OSU last year & they won't be an easy out for OSU this season. Their hoops program has graduated from dumpster fire to thorny nuisance. I was surprised they got Jacob Young, but the talent is gradually getting better there.

merrimack's pretty good, though. they lost their first game to maine by only 21 points.

wisky beats eastern illinois by 13 after spending most of the game within a few possessions. through two games, they're 8/37 (22%) behind the arc. bo ryan basketball is long gone.

Northwestern is awful this season. I had them pegged for 14th in the conference before the season started. Nebraska is going to give them a run for their money, though. They are probably the two worst individual teams the B1G has had in a few years.

I think this season should be the end of Chris Collins at NW. That is one program that is going absolutely nowhere and getting worse by the season. It's a shame that shoe companies aren't paying off top recruits to play for Coach K disciples at anywhere close to the same level as for K himself.
