2019-2020 B1G Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

Robbie Hummel was talking up Penn State on BTN after their win over Maryland. He said they could have won the game against Ole Miss and then they'd be undefeated.

I like Robbie, but that was a pretty big brain fart a few days after that team gave up 106 in Columbus!
except for some minor battle losses and sherman burning absolutely everything down to the ground in a fit of wrath, the south would have prevailed.

i'll give hummel a pass here. he's one of the network's solid talents. generally well-informed with good insight, not much bias, and he doesn't go fishing with hot takes.

I think Illinois May be climbing that ladder too.
i think it's because underwood has finally shifted his defensive philosophy from overplaying passing lanes and extending pressure well beyond the arc to a more conventional style that hunkers down and tries to keep the offense in front of the defenders. no longer are opposing teams breaking the first layer of defense into wide open layups and kickouts. as a result, opponents aren't feasting on the free throw line (high defensive turnover rate --> high opposing free throw rate).

the focal point of that team must be kofi's defense. otherwise, a frenetic defensive strategy will hamstring him.
