2021-2022 Ohio State Men's Basketball

I think most companies are making paper thin clothes now in a lot of ways. I guess that's one way to get people to buy more, if no one makes a durable product. I can't seem to find any brand of athletic socks that have any thickness to them whatsoever. The socks they sell now will tear if you are too strong at pulling them on.
Eddie Bauer still has well-made socks.

Question: if socks are now thinner, how many pairs must you wear to make yourself taller? Could have a huge impact on DBs and receivers, if I recall from a recent post on this very site.

Fuck. I had a feeling they would lose. I’m anticipating a short B1G tournament and an early exit from a talent-inferior but coaching-superior team in March Madness

Should they consider moving on from Holtmann? If they can find a good replacement I say Hell yes
Half way there!

It's like watching a train wreck - you can't stop it, you know it's going to happen, and you can't do anything about it.

losing 4 of the last 5 is bad enough. But 3 of those losses are to the crap end of the conference. Bad Maryland, Nebraska and Penn State teams.

Excuse it away all we want but it’s hard to find much encouragement with that. Especially considering we are now very likely looking at another early tournament exit.

This team is exhausted. I'll be astonished if they win a Tournament game.

Just a tough season.

This sure doesn't look like the same Ohio State basketball team that beat #1 Duke last November. The further they drop in the seedings the tougher their first NCAA tournament game will be. Regardless their opponent will be a lot tougher than a #15 seed Oral Roberts.

Bucks played 8 guys last night - no Zed, no KY, no Meechie, and forget about Sueing and Towns.

Ahrens has become a non-factor and Joey Brunk is having to play 30+ minutes a night. Exactly how far do some folks expect to get with that lineup?

Doesn't matter. Holtmann is supposed to be a miracle worker because Matta routinely took stacked teams deep into the tournament.

Holtmann is the bounce back coach for this fanbase. Short of winning a Natty, this fanbase (which is growing more toxic by the day) is neve going to be satisfied.

I think that abrupt COVID break was the worst thing for this team. It broke up practices just as the team was really starting to find their groove and the chemistry, forcing odd changes to the lineup as they returned to play. The injuries that came later only made it worse, and the lack of that solid chemistry on display with the Duke game was clearly lacking the rest of the season.

Not making excuses, but I just don’t see the “failings” this year as a sign of a problem with the team. There are obviously things that need worked on, bad habits that need fixed, but I think they end up looking a lot better and those issues aren’t as glaring if they put together an uninterrupted season.

I didn't watch the game but this is exactly how I feel. I don't expect a final four run with what we've got, but I also expect more than the losses to awful teams we've been having. Sure we're not Duke or Kentucky in basketball, but we are also not freaking Penn State or Nebraska.

I’m not jumping to FIRE HOLTMANN quite yet. But how this season is ending is very discouraging. His seat should be hot with big pressure to deliver something outside of a first/second round exit in March next season.

From Yahoo sports bracket predictions. Not a good writeup

4. For its sixth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance, Ohio State will fail to make the Sweet 16.

The Buckeyes are likely to earn a No. 6 or No. 7 seed, so a trip to the second weekend isn't necessarily to be expected. Prior to its first-round upset at the hands of No. 15 seed Oral Roberts last March, Ohio State was bounced in the Round of 32 as a No. 11, No. 5, No. 10 and No. 6 seed — a seed range where one win in the tournament may be all that's expected

Seeding is less important than health at this point.

If Zed, KY, and Meechie are still out then forget about winning a game. If they're all ready to contribute we might look a little bit like we did earlier in the season.

I'm hoping we don't play until Friday. Let me just enjoy the first day and give the boys another day to recover.
