Byrnes set to take on Florida, Ohio teams

Published January 31, 2006

Byrnes' football team will have two games nationally broadcast this fall, coach Bobby Bentley said.

The team is set to host a game on Aug. 26 against Glades Central High School of Belle Glade, Fla. That game will be on ESPN.
The Rebels will then travel to Ohio on Sept. 16 to play Moeller High School in the Kirk Herbstreit Ohio vs. USA Challenge. That game will be part of a two-day, six-game event played at the University of Cincinnati's Nippert Stadium. Bentley said Herbstreit and his group will fly the Rebels to Ohio and pay for their lodging.
"It's tremendous for our district to be able to do something like this," Bentley said. "If you're a young athlete in District 5, it's extraordinary to be a part of something like this." Bentley has taken his team to Louisiana and Tennessee for games during the Rebels' recent run of success.

Byrnes BP Thread

Lakeland has quite a few stud recruits in the 07 class. They lit up the AA junior combine.

I'd like to see Glenville, McKinley, and WGHarding get in on this in 2007. All should have some great players in addition to Ed's.

Just curious what Moeller has next year and if they will actually be able to put up a good game against Lakeland.

Lakeland finished the season ranked one or two in the country last year.

I believe this is where Chris Rainey (07RB recruit) attends school.

Also there were reports that their d-line kicked the crap out of Sam Young and Wenger(Sp?), I think that is St. Thomas Aquanis, but not sure.

I believe their whole d-line comes back to.

Ok I get it now. :!

So do they know how many games there might be.

That makes 2 and there is talks about the St. Eds/Viejo game.

word on the street is that Viejo backed out of the game.

The matchups that I know of involve:

St. v. Lakeland

St. Eds v. a school from Philladelphia (St. Joe's?)

Centerville v. a school from NJ (confirmed)

Moeller v. Byrnes (confirmed)

Elder v. Concord DeLaSalle (confirmed)

Colerain v. a team from AZ

times TBA.

It would be cool if they added Brookhaven-Beechcroft to the schedule. They had a game between Westerville South-Westerville North last year. The only problem is that the Beechcroft-Haven game is played the 6th week of the season. So they would have to move our game way back. And that week we are facing Licking Valley.

Ahh, maybe the next year.:(

Our game every year is sold out. It was talked about 2 years ago about moving the game to Crew Stadium. But that was a no go. We really need a bigger stadium to play that game.
