$4.49 a gallon, what do you have??

Just got back from Spain/Portugal. Gas over there is about $2.09 a litre, which is a skoosh more than a quart. Ergo, make it about $8.36 for four litres, or over $8.00 per gallon. No wonder saw so many little cars, plus more than several electrics. PS, parking spaces are at a premium in most of the cities as well.
I remember the first time I went to the UK and wondering why everyone had such shitty little cars, that was why. Also, depending where you lived you don't drive much anyway, just from the flat to the car park at the tube station.

We just bought a *gasp* regular car. Its purpose is to get my wife to work the 3 days a week she has to go, kid will be driving soon etc. For the most part it won't have more than 2 people in it. But my daughter sorta bristled at the lack of roominess from the back seat. I had to explain to her that in Europe this would be considered a very nice sized car for a family of 4. And she says, "we are Europeans SOOO weird" -- but we've only had SUV's or trucks in her lifetime.

I remember when there wasn't an extra digit for gas prices to be displayed properly when they got to be over $1 a gallon. The signs on the sides of the road would read stuff like .019, and we had to just know that that meant 1.019 per gallon.
Are they going to do the same thing when the prices go over $10 a gallon?

(it could have been my Kroger max fuel benefit too, doesn't matter, point is I just dropped $125 on gas with 50 cents per gallon off. And technically that's closer to 3/4 than full)
