4-star CB Sevyn Banks signs with Ohio State in Early Signing Period

The Florida-to-Ohio recruiting pipeline is alive and well.
Ohio State went into Florida yet again to grab a skilled player, as 4-star Orlando CB Sevyn Banks signed his National Letter of Intent, and is now a Buckeye.

Banks initially committed to Ohio State in April, and a torn ACL that cost him his entire junior season wasn’t enough to stop programs like Florida, Tennessee, LSU, and Florida State from also offering the 6’1, 180-pound corner.
Banks is rated as the No. 235 overall player, and No. 26 CB in the class of 2018 by the 247Sports Composite. He joins DT Taron Vincent, S Tyreke Johnson, and RB Brian Snead as the four Floridians expected to sign with the Buckeyes so far in this year’s class.
Scouting Report
The biggest thing that pops on Sevyn’s film is his sheer athleticism. He plays both ways in high school, and handled kickoff returns, and dominates in all facets of the game because of that athleticism. At 6-foot-1, his versatility and experience at receiver help him greatly at his true position, cornerback, where he’ll suit up for Ohio State.
He has outstanding ball skills, and plays with aggression and confidence, two things Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano values. He’s a surprisingly willing tackler, and knows how to use his frame to make plays in run support.
Technically speaking, he’s still pretty raw, and will need work, both in the weight room and with defensive backs coach Kerry Coombs before he’s ready to play significant time in Columbus. However, with his height, athleticism, work ethic, and pure speed, the ceiling is extremely high for Banks.
