4-star DB Lejond Cavazos commits to Ohio State

BOOOOOOM!! The Buckeyes land their second pledge for the class of 2020.
Still locking in 2019 pledges, Ohio State isn’t taking any time away from tracking down talented class of 2020 prospects.
Previously sitting at a single commitment, Ohio State’s junior class is now at two thanks for the Wednesday pledge of four-star safety Lejond Cavazos.
While most around the recruiting scene thought he would end up in the Scarlet and Gray when it was all said done, Urban Meyer and crew had to fight off a long list of solid college football programs to make it happen.
A Texas native who attends IMG Academy in Florida, the 6-foot, 186-pound Cavazos held over 20 scholarship offers from the likes of Georgia, Alabama and Oregon before deciding to call Columbus his future stomping grounds.
Mostly coming off the bench for the talent rich IMG Academy Ascenders last season, Cavazos might’ve only finished his sophomore campaign with less than 10 total tackles, and one interception, but should see his time on the field expand as a junior with the graduation of prospects such as now Oklahoma true freshman Brendan Radley-Hiles, and others.
Currently considered the 10th safety and 201st overall prospect in the entire class of 2020, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Cavazos, who also ran track on the high school level, will reportedly first get his shot to crack the Buckeyes depth chart at cornerback when he arrives in the 614.
Still nearly two years away from signing on the dotted line, Cavazos, and four-star offensive lineman Jake Wray, the younger brother of current OSU true freshman lineman Max Wray, have the Buckeyes currently pegged as the 11th 2020 class in the country.
