The Buckeyes made the offer to a member of the 2019 recruiting class.

Ohio State has had tons of kids on campus over the last week as the Buckeyes have been the host of multiple football camps. These camps give coaches an up close and personal look at some of these prospects. Some of the athletes already hold offers from schools while some others are in the process of getting their name out in the recruiting world.

One of the attendees from yesterday’s camp, Darnell Wright, picked up an offer from the Buckeyes after an impressive showing. Wright is a 2019 offensive tackle who stands at 6-foot-6, 280 pounds. From West Virginia, this was Wright’s 13th total offer to go along with the slew of regional schools in and around the state. Not all of the recruiting sites have had the opportunity to evaluate Wright; however, 247Sports has, and they rank him as a four-star prospect and the No. 3 player at his position. Wright obviously came to Columbus, Ohio on his own dime—granted it’s not that far of a trip, but this shows that legitimate interest exists. Ohio State’s early offer shows that he could be a prospect to keep an eye on moving forward.

Another offer went out to 2018 defensive end Jordan Davis. Davis, who is currently committed to Alabama, is from Memphis and is rated a top 300 player in the country. At 6-foot-5, 240 pounds, Davis has the prototypical size that Ohio State looks for when recruiting the DE position. Though it’s not clear where Ohio State stands on Davis’ list after this offer, this one can be kept under the “wait and see” file as we move forward. Davis has been committed to the Crimson Tide since December 2016.

QUICK HITS

  • Ohio State quarterback commit Emory Jones tweeted that he will be on campus this weekend. With most of the southern schools trying to pull him away from Ohio State, it’s good that Jones will be in Columbus to further build his relationships with the coaching staff.

  • Other of note prospects that camped on Tuesday at Ohio State include wide receiver Xavier Williams (Alabama commit), highly rated defensive back Houston Griffith, tight end James Mitchell and 2019 LB/DE Cade Stover.
  • Former Ohio State target Antwuan Jackson sounds off on Auburn blocking the Buckeyes from being Jackson’s potential transfer choice.
  • DE Mason Copley was at the Buckeyes’ camp, and came away with a preferred walk-on spot.
