Which OSU commit did enough to grab your vote?
Austin Mack and his Fort Wayne Bishop Luers (IN) teammates might not have picked up a win last Friday, but the future Buckeye wide receiver still walked away with a victory of sorts.
After accounting for 447 total yards and scoring six touchdowns in the Knights 43-38 loss to Carroll High, Mack, a class of 2016 pledge, was selected as the Land-Grant Holy Land MVP of the week.
With Mack and the most of the future Buckeyes back in action over the weekend, we once again want to hear from you. Which Buckeye commit did enough on the field to grab your vote?
Here are your five nominees:
Austin Mack
On Friday, Mack once again showed why he's considered one of the top recruits in the country. Playing only in the first half, the four-star standout finished with 186 all-purpose yards and reached pay dirt four times in Bishop Luers' 56-12 blow out win over Fort Wayne South Side.
A jack-of-all-trades for the Knights, all of Mack's touchdowns came from a different position on the field. On offense, he scored on the ground and through the air, finishing with 53 rushing and 42 receiving yards on the night. Mack's standout play didn't stop there. Displaying his talents on special teams and defense, he also scored on a 82 yard punt return and an interception.
George Hill
Guess what? Hill is fast. Showing off his speed on Friday, the current OSU pledge was a massive part of Hubbard's run away win over Niles. In the 35-14 victory, Hill toted the rock 19 times for 274 yards and three rushing touchdowns, including runs from 81 and 64 yards out.
Even though it wasn't his longest run of the night, Hill's 64 yard score was his play of the game. After what looked as a run for limited yards, George raced from one side of the field to the other, dodging many Niles defenders on his way to the endzone.
"I was thinking to myself that when guys go to college, they always bring with them that one special moment that they remember from their high school careers. As soon as I got the ball, for some reason I felt like this was going to be that play," Hill stated to Vindy.com.
Not just doing damage on the ground, Hill also scored on a 33 yard reception to help jump start the Hubbard offense after a rather sluggish start to the game.
Demario McCall
The injury bug has definitely bit McCall this season. After nursing an ankle injury to start the year, the OSU class of 2016 commit sustained a bruised shoulder injury on Friday.
"These injuries are hunting me like I did something wrong. What'd I do wrong, man? I'm just trying to get out here and play and grind," the running back told The Chronicle Telegram of his recent health concerns.
Leaving the game in the second quarter, McCall was on his way to a special night. Before having to watch his North Ridgeville squad roll to an easy 44-21 victory over North Olmsted from the sideline, the four-star standout rushed for 131 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Danny Clark
In a battle of future teammates, 2017 pledge Danny Clark, and Akron Archbishop Hoban got the best of 2016 commit Jack Wohlabaugh and Walsh Jesuit.
Completing 11 of his 19 passing attempts, Clark accounted for 208 yards and three touchdowns.
"Almost every single guy, if I put it in their general area, they're coming down with it. Just to be a quarterback an knowing that, it's a great feeling," the future Buckeye signal caller had to say to Ohio.com after the 48-7 Hoban rout.
Bruce Judson
On Saturday, Cocoa (FL) might not have pulled out the win, but Judson was definitely a bright spot for the Tigers against St. Edward.
While St. Ed's kept Cocoa's air attack under wraps, they couldn't keep Judson's legs from snatching up all kinds of yards. Carrying the ball 31 times, Judson rushed for 203 yards, which included a 61 yard score in the 24-14 loss.
