#5/5 Buckeyes vs. #4/7 Rutgers

The womens basketball team just beat #22 Iowa pretty soundly. Sunday they play Rutgers in the Big Ten--Big East Challenge. The game will be shown on ESPN2 but I think that averyone needs to get off their butts and head out to the game. This is a big game. By attending, you will be able to show your support and make the program look good in front of a national audience, while at the same time, you will be one less house tuned in, and supporting Espin. It's a win win situatuion.

If we want our program to rival those of Tennessee, UConn, or even Purdue or Penn St. We really need to start going to games and supporting our team. I've seen more people supporting purdues team on a neutral court at the Big Ten tournament than I have ever seen support our women attheir home court in the Schott. As good as this team is, it is rediculous how little fan support they get. We need to spread the word and start talking about this team. Coach Foster is turning them into a National power, but if we want them to stay that way we need to create some buzz and get some interested fans to come out and see a game.

I challenge everyone here to not only talk about and get excited about this team, but to come out and watch this team play. I know I will be in the stands playing with the band on Sunday. I hope to see you all there.

OSUM is exactly right about supporting quality programs and the women's team is one of them. If I was anywhere near Columbus i would be there Sunday. As it is, I'll be watching and rooting for the Lady Bucks. :oh: :io:

Lady Bucks up 13-10 with 7:34 left in the first half. Both teams shooting cold (below 33%). Rutgers very quick on defense but both teams playing a bit sloppy at this point.

Rutgers 16 OSU 15 with 3:48 left. 6=0 Rutgers run. OSU need to shoot better and to get more people shooting.

Rutgers on an 11-3 run, have blocked four OSU shots and playing tough down deep. OSU can't buy a shot. 21-16 with 1:52 left in the half

And that's where it ends up at the half. Both teams playing excellent defense but Rutgers made adjustments that kept OSU to just 3 points for something like 8 minutes. Rutgers then began to hit about 50% of their shots. OSU still playing cold and getting stuffed around down under because they can't hit their threes, or anything in fact.

Here I have to sign out and hope for best! Hope we see some real adjustments by the Lady Bucks in the second half.

Good game. Came back from 7 down but see-sawed throughout second half. both teams shooting better, Lady Bucks about 60% in second half. Still couldn't put down threes but thankfully Matter's 3 put the Lady Bucks up 5 with less than a minute. A bit tense but a character building win. Rutgers looks really tough and I hope we don't meet them again until an NCAA final, if at all.

I watched it, damn good basketball game. Rutgers is a very athletic team, lots of talent. It was a very good win and a very good leaning experience. Congrats to Coach Foster and the rest of the Lady Buckeyes! :osu:

What a relief to see the Bucks wake up and come back. With such a large crowd (including a lot of first timers I am sure) you don't want to score 16 in the first half and go 9+ minutes without a basket. They played tremendous ball down the stretch and the last 8 minutes or so were great ball by both teams.

Foster is the man. Thanks again Andy.

What a game for my daughter's first Buckeye Basketball game. She really enjoyed herself. There was some serious street ball being played under the basket. We had a height advantage, they had a speed advantage. They were fast. But Davenport in the paint was too much for them. Good win Lady Bucks.

Two observations. ESPN's article said we shot 77% in the second half. Those were some quality adjustments at the half, I guess. Speaks well of Foster's coaching.

Second, this is what I like to hear. From Rutgers' coach:

Ohio State has one of the greatest atmospheres in the country...We had two miscues on the offense where our player was in the wrong place. She couldn't hear. She was trying to ask another person what she was supposed to do.

It got loud a few times. It really picked up once the Bucks took the lead in the second half.

One of the adjustments was to concentrate on feeding Davenport in the low post. They had to foul her to stop her.
