#7 Wisconsin 89, #2 Pittsburgh 75 (Final)

Tucker has really stepped his game up.

Should be a nice matchup with Lighty manning him up.

Butch had a great game, but I just can't see him playing like that against Oden.

Should be a great game when we go to the kohl center on Jan 9th...

It should not be considered an upset...

Maybe by the rankings, but b/c Pitt hadnt played anyone and Wisky got beat by miss. st. earlier in the year it was considered one.

Wisky Schlacked Pitt who honestly did not impress me at all and were not as physical as advertised as Wisky beat the shit out of them all day...

Wiscy looked great today. Tucker is a star and Baker can shoot lights out. I think they are going to be our toughest test in the B10. However, I still don't see how they can match up with us.

I think you mean Taylor.

The thing about Wisky is that why they look like they only have a couple of good players they are deep with role players and they only depend on a couple of their guys to really put the points on the board and the other guys are defenders and will get after it.

They are really a 3 horse team with Tucker, Butch, and Taylor.

I agree that I don't they can consitently stop us, but they are a very good defensive team and will contest everything and I am not sure that we match up that well with Tucker. I am sure they will play Lighty, Cook, Lewis, and maybe Hunter on him, but Ligthy is the only one of the four that can really match up well with him inside and out...

Also Butch won't be able to play near as well as he did today. I think Oden will be able to dominate him, b/c I think at times Butch can play soft and drift outside, and Oden or Hunter can match up with him outside.

Then I think Conley/Butler vs. Taylor should be a nice matchup...Offensively and defensivly.

I'm really looking forward to the matchups. If any team can match up with Ohio State in the big ten, it's Wisconsin. And Wisconsin just so happens to be that other team in the regular conversations for big ten title contender. Stiemsma is an outstanding defender and I'd imagine that he gets the assignment of guarding Oden. Butch and Chappell are a couple of other big bodies that they can throw at him, but those players may not have the foot quickness to deal with him. It would have to be a team effort. Tucker is the best player between the two teams, but Ohio State has more players who can score. One thing that Ohio State really has going for them is 3 point shooting proficiency. That has been the #1 weakness of the team this year, and that is defending the 3 (also the zone, I don't know if you run one). It lost Wisconsin the Missou State game and nearly cost them the Winthrop game. Ohio State won't win a game against Wisconsin on the inside, at least offensively. However, Wisconsin has only 2 losses at Kohl Center under Bo Ryan I believe, if you don't count what the decimated squad of the 2nd half of last year did. And this is by far Wisconsin's best team under Ryan. It's very unlikely that the Buckeyes come away with a win there, especially with the Badger's edge in experience. But I think the reverse is true at Ohio State. Anything other than a split is an upset, and that is the reality.

Tucker may be the best scorer, but overall he will not be the best/most talented player on the floor.

Why I say this is b/c while Tucker will draw the attention from our D and we will send double teams at times, you will need to double Oden about everytime he touches the ball in the paint, for reason you stated and that will cause open looks for our guys and easy putbacks for him on the long rebounds. Also Oden will alter your entire offensive game plan, b/c the liklihood of scoring on the inside drastically goes down with him in the middle.

I also don't think that it is very unlikely that we come away with a win there. We went to the Dean Dome and the freshmen showed they were not scared to play on the road and that was with out our best player.

Also you guys are going to need to score pts and who are the guys besides Tucker, Butch, and Taylor who will all be defended by all-big-ten type defenders in Lighty, Oden, and Butler that will step up and score.

Just my 2 cents. At this time I would say we win by about 5-7.

If any army in the middle east can match up with the US Army, it's Kuwait.

Is Kuwait ranked in the top 5 of world armies? No, but Wisconsin will be ranked top 5 in the nation of basketball teams. And the U.S. lost to Vietnam on their own home turf. Nam wasn't in the top 5 of world armies. Bad analogy on your part.

Lighten up, Bernini. It was a joke.

Badgers looked very good against Pitt; more to the point, Jamie Dixon proved once again he can lead the Panthers to an excellent record by beating whom he should pre-conference, then overachieving in the Big East. Pittsburgh is not really an elite team -- just a very good, well-coached one.

I think, the above notwithstanding, that Wisconsin will be darn lucky to achieve a split against the Buckeyes. Much more talent in Columbus than in Madison IMO.

I must say, it doesn't matter that there's more talent in C-bus.

Wisconisin is tough as nails at home. Doesn't matter who they play. It won't be a walk in the park and it's not like our team is unbeatable. We could easily struggle, especially in a place like Madison. I wouldn't just mark up a win and I wouldn't be too disappointed with a split.
