Akron Zips at tOSU, Sep 25th, 7:30pm BTN

Two questions on the game. First, how many drops did the Akron WRs have? Seemed like a ton. Next, did Laurinaitis basically say OSU needs to stop rotating so many LBers so the ones in can get into a flow of the game?

7. We've got some talent in the defensive backfield. LOVE Hickman, Martinez is adjusting well to the position, Burke is damn impressive and keeps growing, Watts is solid, and other than stupid penalties JK Johnson looks to have a lot of talent. It will help to get Brown back and I don't recall seeing Ransom out there, who I think is skilled. Banks was pretty disappointing in his return tbh, maybe that's why he wasn't playing? Cavazos showed signs of life, but also why he got passed up imo. And while Shaw wasn't terrible or anything this game, I still can't believe we can't get one of Hickman, Martinez or Ransom back to the high safety even if their skill set isn't ideal for the position...I just think they're an upgrade in a "get your best 11 on the field" mantra.
!

I believe @Smudger or someone else said that Ransom was rotating series with Shaw. Maybe so.

Just sayin':

1) All 5 OL made the list. The depth at OL is impressive as 2 past starters Thayer Mumford and Harry Miller weren't even available to play.

2) They beat Akron 59-7 and the 2 QBs played pretty well but didn't grade out as "champions". What do you think the final score would have been if both McCord and Miller had achieved "champion" status?

The only game against an in-state school that I can remember thinking afterwards, “The Buckeyes played with MORE effort than them”

Yeah, sure, they had something to prove. Plenty of Buckeyes have had plenty to prove and didn’t go out and give that kind of effort.

From one standpoint, this actually points out that there is still a ways to go; some of what we saw happened because a Zip or two loafed while our guys kept playing full speed.

Fine, whatever

I’d rather cheer for a team that is still trying to figure it out while giving it everything they have than for a team like the one up north

I loved the effort of the freshman ..it lead to two penalties…but they were having fun.

They had quite a few but some were of the "hearing footsteps" variety. JL said that he'd have had a talking to with Fick if he was getting taken out for series at a time. LOL I get it too, you just get a good feeling for what they're doing then you come out and have to feel it all over again.

They were alternating series almost the entire game. Ransom played longer into the 4th and I even saw him go back to the slot-corner spot to give Cam Martinez a breather once early in the contest.

I do not recall a defensive series either played back-to-back until Ransom got some more action exclusively with the backups & the backups, backups.
