Alex Wimmers no-hits the Wolverines!!

I think Alex would welcome the mention of his good friend and former teammate at Cincinnati Moeller high school, Dan Burkhart, who caught his no-no this afternoon.

forgive me for not knowing anyone's names, but:
Don't leave out the 2nd baseman who made a great diving catch to end the 7th, and the SS who made an even better diving play up the middle to get the force out at 2nd in the 8th.

both balls should have been solid basehits, but great defensive plays preserved the no hitter for them.

Quite true.

Shortstop Tyler Engle caught a ball in the 8th that looked like it took an odd hop as he was diving for it. He gloved it, his face hit the ground, and then he got a force-out at 2nd base.

The last out of the 7th inning was a fine diving catch by 2nd-baseman Cory Kovanda.

I got to watch the last 3 innings or so and it was great to watch these Buckeyes play. not only Wimmer and the defensive plays mentioned but also plays like the two bunts by the same kid , the first advances two runners to second and third and the very next inning he drives in a run with another perfect bunt. And timely hitting in the 7th when we broke the game up with the first 3 runs.
Absolutely a joy to watch.

[HTM]It never sucks to be a Michigan fan.[/quote]

Right now, if you are a TSUN fan, you are witnessing what will possibly be the worst era of sporting prowess your university ever produced.

TSUN fans! Admit to yourselves that it sucks to support your team! Release yourself of this pent-up burden! It is the way to better health and happiness.

Two former Moeller baseball standouts - Dan Burkhart and Alex Wimmers - recently earned Big Ten conference honors at Ohio State, according to the Columbus Dispatch. The Buckeyes were the Big Ten regular season champions.

Sophomore catcher Dan Burkhart was named the Big Ten player of the year and sophomore right-hander Alex Wimmers was named the co-pitcher of the year.
