Ironically, when he steps out of his comedic stereotype, like in Stranger than Fiction, he can be pretty good.

Did you expect Ferrell to be his normal self? If you were looking for that, I can see why you would think it was terrible. Otherwise, I have to strongly disagree. Granted, it wasn't a great movie, but it was a good movie--other than the fact that Ferrell's character should have been killed at the end.
