Player is an Android equivalent of VLC—that most wonderful of media playback programs that will take almost any file format you throw its way and chew through it with ease. And a free alpha version is now available. VPlayer offers support for virtually any video format you're likely to want (or need)—DivX, Xvid, FLV, MKV, and WMV, just to start. As mentioned, it's only an alpha, so might be on the crashy side, but you've got nothing to lose if format diversity is part of your life. [AppBrain]
Note: a lot of the comments seem to prefer RockPlayer to this.

Kept the phone--too much that I like about it.

Synching the calender is pretty easy. Just set up Outlook to synch to a gmail calender, and your phone to also synch with gmail. It's a seemless, two-way synch.

Contacts is more of a challenge. Even the $40 dollar outside app that I tried on a trial basis, would not--despite its claims--sync changes on the phone back to Outlook. It was purely one-way. Luckily, I didn't drop the money before finding this out.

Personally, I don't think this is oversight on Google's part. Their long term strategy is to kill Outlook and all the rest of MS Office and replace it with their cloud based (cough...cough SKYNET) office apps. It's in their strategic interests to make their phone customers have a hard time with Office.

Does anyone ever listen to Sirius radio? They have an app for both the android and iphone platforms. If you are new to the service you can get a 7 trial.

ORD_Buckeye, I'm sure you've seen this link.

I looked into the Sirius app for iPhone. I'm already a Sirius subscriber, and once upon a time streaming over the internet used to be included for free in the standard subscription. After the merger, they started charging extra for streaming and nobody was grandfathered in. I won't pay extra for streaming now on principle.

Besides, I don't know what all the options are for Android, but iPhone apps like Pandora and Slacker Radio are free and blow Sirius out of the water.

I haven't tried either of these two apps, I just saw them over on XDA and thought some people might be able to use them.

I'm glad people are starting to implement equalizer's into their music apps. That's the main reason why I still carry my ipod with me.

Add this into the reason why I love android and the people who build custom roms. This custom ROM takes various bits and pieces from different phone OS's and other Roms and uses for their rom. I can make my phone look and damn near act however I want. I was hesitant to root my phone and install a custom ROM at first and now I'm glad I have.
Desire Super Hybrid ROM main features:
*720p Desire Video (with mod)
*Super Battery Circle
*Droid 2 Keyboard
*IntersectRaven Kernel
*Apps2Ext+
*Cyanogen's Live Wallpapers
*Cyanogen's Mms
*Cyanogen's Contacts
*Music Equalizer (fully working)
*Music Lockscreen
*SuperUser
*Spare Parts
*Trackball Alert
*Trackball Wake
*Gallery 3D
*FM Radio
*Astro
*Titanium Backup
*Quickboot
*Long Press Power Button (Reboot, Recovery)
*WiFi Hotspot (Working)
