Hurry, I'm down to 9% on my battery! :)

Short version:

In a car (at a photo shoot), with a dying laptop battery.

When plugged into lighter via adapter, the power connection flickers on and off (not enough voltage perhaps?).

Is this flickering bad for the laptop? It alternates on/off about every 3-4 seconds.

Are you using a 12 vdc power inverter? The car may need to be running to keep the voltage above twelve. The car voltage will run above 12.5 with the alternator running. If off it could drop below causing the inverter to flicker.
