Any Parakeet Owners Out There

One big difference in many birds' demeanors, and how comfortable they are with humans, comes from whether they were hand-fed as a chick or not. It is not a determining factor, though.

Get a lot of time with it early. Birds tend to decide whether they are cool with you or not very quickly. Seriously. Get at it early like a madman. Also, I had one bird die when I was a kid when we put some chemical (polyurethane?) on our hard-wood floors. They are very sensitive to chemicals - hence the coal-mine usage.

Um. Hmm. I had two little birds, both cockatiels. Their poop cleans up easily, let em run. They'll hang out with you and inspect everything with their tongues. Especially paper-clips and stuff.

I wish I had more info. Most birds totally love mirrors. Get some grit. If there is any web-info out there on preventing the squawking, follow it. FCollins is right, it will drive you insane.

One bird story: This African Grey copied its owner in a funny way. It would constantly yell "c'mere boy, c'mere boy" until the dog jumped up towards its cage, when it would yell "bad dog! bad dog!" Poor dog went insane.

Because when I used the name generator I found on the internet and asked it to give me names that meant "bird", Daya was the one I liked best.
Dude,
You used a name generator to come up with a name for a freaking bird?

Well, I know I wanted to give it a name that meant bird. So how else am I suppose to find out what those names are? Tell me, off the top of your head, how many do you know besides Phoenix (which is a stupid name for a Parakeet).

Ouch! Still bitter over the Buckeye loss?

You're still the only guy I know that would name a pet after the Hebrew name for that animal.

I have to give it to you, it's original.

You're one of a kind dude.
