**Minor Spoiler**

Played the first few Boston missions, and just hooked up with the Indian chick. It might just be me, but when I try to fight the British regulars, I kinda get my ass kicked. I dont think Im supposed to fight them. Nothing special as far as the games concerned to this point, seems harder than the past games, but thats it.

sure...the beginning is ridiculously slow, but i'm loving it so far..

really depends though on the type of game you like...this is a tad similar to Batman:AC in playing style wise..where it's an open world where you can do side quests up the ying yang

I sprung for this for the same reason, new to the series, can't wait to finish this one and by the older ones..

I'm a fan.. graphics are awesome, I like the historical context of everything, killing red coats is awesome..

Holding me over until GTA.

If you do plan on picking it up without playing the other ones, you should watch this. Note: Massive spoilers for all the AC games besides 3.

I would recommend playing the first one because of how fun it is and because it will be rather outdated if you work your way backwards.

Do not concern yourself with progressing through the storyline of other titles. The back story is pretty lousy and tedious. the action, heights, platforming and little moments are what make this game fun.

The middle school English class level backstory is a frustrating distraction, at least in the older games.

I have barely begun playing but so far this installment is a much needed breath of fresh air in a tired franchise. While it was impossible to maintain the amazement and grandeur of racing across rooftops and mixing espionage with huge amounts of swagger, the series had become very repetitive with a lousy story/conspiracy behind it. the last game wasn't even worth finishing if you were given it for free.

the voice actor brings a very new feel to the series and compliments the new architecture, activity and interactions. It doesn't just feel like a new level of buildings, it is a unique game built on a familiar premise.

I enjoy the upgrades they have made to group fighting. Before they would attack sequentially with a warning to set up your block or counter. Now the guy behind you pummels you while you are busy fighting in the other direction.

Too soon to give a proper review but I am quite pleased so far.

Personally I would skip the first one and just play ACII and brotherhood..those are the best 2 imo...the first isn't worth it..

ACII gives you a pretty damn backstory into what happened in the first one

yea I don't remember them mentioning that at all

It's spelled out in the lost archives DLC for Revelations (even though many figured it out before then).

Go to the 22:30 mark

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbcQTMRJLPI"]AC Revelations Story Summary for AC3 - The Lost Archive DLC, Subject 16, Lucy (2/3) - YouTube[/ame]

It sucks, but AC puts important pieces of the story in their DLC, unlike other games that refuse to make DLC anything but side stuff. Of course there were clues and statements made before she got killed that hinted she was a mole. Subject 16 mentions it when he stated "she is not who you think she is," even though Desmond doesn't know what he is talking about at the time, and Juno spells it out by saying "There is one would accompany you through the gate. She lies not within our sight. The cross darkens the horizon." That is what Juno says right before Desmond kills Lucy, and the cross she talks about is the Templar cross.
