Associate Director of Football Operations Todd Alles (offical thread)

A former Buckeye and a 28-year veteran of the coaching teaching profession, Todd Alles is in his second year back at Ohio State as a program assistant for operations and recruiting. His current position is his third appointment with Ohio State after serving as a graduate assistant coach under Woody Hayes and a volunteer strength and conditioning coach and academic advisor for Jim Tressel.
In Oct. 2002 Alles was awarded the Ohio State Alumni Award for Professional Achievement, honoring a career that has included titles of teacher, head baseball coach, head wrestling coach, head football coach, athletics director, assistant principal and principal.

After coaching, teaching and administrative positions at Dublin High School (1977-86), Oberlin High School (1990-92), Perkins High School (1992-96), North Olmsted High School (1996-2001), Avon Lake High School (2001-03), Alles retired but continued to coach. From Oct. 2003 to March 2004 he worked with OSU players in the weight room and as an academic advisor, then from March 2004 to May 2005 served as the defensive coordinator at Dublin Jerome High School before returning to Ohio State in his current position.

Alles was a member of Big Ten champion Ohio State teams in 1974 and 1975 which played in the Rose Bowl both seasons. In 1975 he was an OSU Scholar-Athlete before serving as a graduate assistant coach for the Buckeyes in 1976 (Big Ten champs, Orange Bowl) and 1977. Alles earned a bachelor of science degree in education in 1977 (3.43 GPA) and would later earn a master's degree in education administration from Ohio State in 1989 (3.86 GPA).

Alles graduated from Marion-Franklin High School in Columbus in 1965 and served in the United States Navy as a flight engineer from Sept. 1965 to Dec. 1968, attaining the rank of Petty Officer Third Class.

Alles lives in Powell, Ohio, with his wife Karen, also an Ohio State graduate. The two have three adult children and three grandchildren.

Todd Alles will now serve as associate director-football operations, handling many of the day-to-day administrative and logistic details for the Ohio State program. A veteran high school educator, Alles, a former OSU player, has been a part of the Buckeye football staff since 2003, working in the strength program and later as a program assistant in recruiting. He served as director of football operations at Alabama in 2007-08.
