Atlanta to fire Jim Mora Jr.

The Man

The truth
The Falcons are actively searching for a new head coach right now. Ken Whisenhunt the Pittsburgh OC has been mentioned as someone owner Arthur Blank is interested in. That may depend on if Cowher leaves Pittsburgh or not. Rumored that Alabama is interested in Mora, his act may play better in college than in the NFL. I expect that if/when the Falcons are eliminated from the play-off race Mora will get the ax very soon, like Monday.....Here is a snippet of the AJC article from today regarding this. I can't get the link with-out registering so...........Major concerns about Mora
Third-year coach's job in jeopardy

Falcons owner Arthur Blank will decide this week whether to fire coach Jim Mora.

According to several team officials who spoke to the AJC on the condition of anonymity, they believe the amount of evidence stacked against the third-year coach greatly exceeds the case to keep him.

The Falcons are actively looking at possible replacements but are not yet convinced any available candidates would provide a significant upgrade, the team officials said. The team wants to make sure that if they make a change they can hire a coach whose philosophy would work with the current players

what will most likely cost Mora his job was his choice of coordinators. Greg Knapp was a horrible fit and then they grab GB cast-off Ed Donatell to head up the D. Mora may not even be fired, Blank will demand a change of coordinators and Mora will refuse and quit.

I think it has more to do that you have one of the dumbest QBs running the show and management can't admit it.
when you sign a guy to a $100 million dollar deal you can't just bench him. And to be honest Vick is the main reason the Georgia Dome sells out now. I know you don't deal in facts very much, but that is one. From a $ perspective Vick has been a God send to the Falcons. Is he the best QB in the league, no. Save your Vick bashing for your "how horrible is Vick" thread.

Is he walking to Washington (or Tuscaloosa) yet?

Vick can be pretty bad at times... but the coaching decision to run a west coast offense with Vick and those WRs is just as bad.

Any pro offense you run requires a QB who can make good decisions and be an accurate passer.

Unless they break out the triple option the next staff will be accused of the same stuff.

True, but running a offense predicated on timing with inconsistent QB/WRs seems pretty dumb to me.
