Baltimore Orioles (3x World Series Champions)

At least they didn't overpay for a flyball pitcher in that ball park, but still...meh....if he pitches good then it's a steal, if he doesn't, this looks like Freddy Garcia all over again...

Will be interesting to see how he does. He was largely a disaster in Cleveland excepting the last six weeks of last season. In fact, at one point early last season, I think I called him "the worst player in MLB" and I wasn't trying to be hyperbolic. Hopefully for the O's he didn't just get hot when he realized he was pitching for his next contract.

There are a lot of people looking at his stats post-May 1st as a way to justify the signing.

'In 28 starts from April 29 through the end of the season, he was 13-7 with a 2.61 ERA' is what I keep seeing....If the O's had gotten that out of any starter they tried last year, they are in the thick of the playoffs.

Now he gets to play with the league's best defensive infield with an offense that will certainly score him enough runs to win regularly. We'll see...

You'll have to tolerate him putting up an era of 6 or so for the first 6-8 starts of the year and accept that you will rarely get more than 6 innings out of him.

Chris Tillman looked awesome today. I wish the rest of the pitching staff would catch up.

And I hope there's something left in the tank with Santana. A staff of Santana - Tillman - Gonzalez/Chen - Norris - Ubaldo isn't a bad week at least for this franchise. Norris, Chen and Gonzalez have to start pitching better though.

It did my heart good to see the O's score two touchdowns on the Yankees yesterday. Feel free to pound them (and the Red Sox) as often as possible.

Frikin Tommy Hunter just cost them a sweep of the Angels....allegedly supposedly they are looking at AJ Burnett as a trade piece but I'll believe that happens when I see it and not before.

They won't win the AL East with a rotation of Gonzalez, Chen, Kevin Gascan, Chris Tillman and Bud Norris. I think Toronto or Tampa will end up catching them.
