Baltimore Orioles (3x World Series Champions)

Chris Davis popped for 25 games (which will include 8 games of the postseason) for second positive Adderall test after not having his exemption renewed this season. For a team already without Wieters and Machado, the loss of Davis could torpedo a real shot at winning the Series this year.

nah...he's only hitting .196. He wouldn't see any fastballs at all in the playoffs, which is basically all he hits anymore.

The key to winning the series is Markakis, Cruz and AJ (and maybe Schoop and De Aza contributing as well) as well as the pitching staff maintaining what they've been doing. Davis wasn't likely to even be resigned by the team after this year anyway and this should seal the deal.

I don't follow the Orioles as closely as you, I just don't imagine it helps the team to remove his presence or have to configure the post-season roster with him taking a 25-man roster spot while ineligible to play when every bat and bullpen arm matters in a short series. Baltimore will have to play a man short for the first two rounds or leave him off the roster entirely.

If they happen to win the ALCS (the 2nd series), he would be eligible for the World Series.

I'll be shocked (and extremely happy) if they make it that far for it to be an issue though.

congrats to the O's. i have always like showalter

Yeah Showalter really turned the entire franchise around. He's an absolute wizard when it comes to the bullpen and lineups. Not many teams start playing near .700 ball when they lose All-Stars like Wieters and then keep it up after losing a guy like Machado, all the while not getting much of anything from Chris Davis all year long.

If the national media weren't so focused on strikeouts, they would realize the pitching staff has been the best in baseball since 1 July. If they can get some hitting going in the postseason they have the potential to look very much like the early 90s Atlanta Braves (obviously with less hype and so far overall success)

Well they are finishing spring better than they started....I don't think this team has enough offense to win more than 80-82 games or so....which is too bad, the pitching staff is back to where it was last year.

Since the ferguson thread is still locked this is the one and only comment I'm going to make for now about the animals who ruined the ballpark experience by throwing a fucking temper tantrum and attacking Orioles fans for zero reason during a "peaceful" protest in Baltimore. Fuck every single of of you trash can thorwing, disabled person attacking cocksuckers with a fungo bat.
