Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (free on XBL this week)

the demo was fun, but definitely takes some getting used to in terms of game play compared to modern warfare (in particular how many shots it takes to kill someone, that was pretty frustrating for me)

I might buy it... will probably wait and see what type of reviews it gets

This games coming out soon!

I do like the how not to be noob video.

This one made me laugh....

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qki-XDVzC_c"]YouTube - Battlefield Bad Company 2: Epic 'Splodes...[/ame]

BTW...I played quite a few hours on the beta. A few things....

1) There is no prone in this game. Dice to campers and dolphin divers (look it up) - "Go screw yourself."

2) Spawning on squad mates. Dice to spawn campers - "Go back to MW2 you spawn camping POS." Although I am not a huge fan of this, it does eliminate ahole spawn campers.

3) Bullet drop. Takes getting used to, but a cool dynamic.

4) If you love sniping from long distances so you can keep up your precious K/D ratio, this game is not for you. If I am attacking and see idiots do that I put a tracer dart on their forehead. Good luck hiding in the bushes with a blinking red dot on your head. Sniping is ok on defense, but on offense, unless you are good and can actually move forward on the battlefield while sniping - eat tracer dart. In case you don't know, you can tag enemy vehicles with a tracer dart. It allows certain weapons to lock onto the target. Yet it can also attach to teammates, and it's a bright red blinking light. Since there is no friendly fire in the general game, it's a nice way to screw over worthless teammates.

5) Vehicles, helicopters, and boats! This is a Battlefield staple, and is fairly well balanced right now. Of course new players have no idea how to fly the Apache (pure comedy watching an Apache take of and immediately take a nose dive into a building). New players also have no idea how to take it out. Please note, no airplanes this time around. Dice thought they left the game too unbalanced.

6) No stupid kill streak rewards.

7) For PC owners, dedicated servers. Thank God.

8) Destructible environments is a great dynamic, and almost everything can be destroyed.

9) Finally, teamwork, teamwork, teamwork. As noted in the "noob" video, one hot player cannot win you a round. You need to play as a team or you will get hammered. Going all lone man Rambo does not work out too well in this game. You may take out a couple of guys, and occasionally be able to do it if the other team is all loners. Yet if you run up against a well prepared squad, you die for nothing. Even if you get one of them, they will just revive that player while you are sitting there staring at a spawn clock.

Anyway, it's a great game. If anyone picks this up for PC my handle is Buckeye, and send me a friend request. I am not the best player, but not bad either. I normally end up in the top 5 of 16 man teams, and on a rare occasion #1 (note: Leader boards include all points gained through tons of ways, not just kills....again, this game is not all about K/D ratio).

Anyone pick this up for the 360? How is it?

I don't have it for the 360, but if you want to see gameplay go over to Justintv (click on the gaming section). There are usually 2 or 3 people streaming their game, and most are for XBox.

For me, it's the best multiplayer out there, and many of the review sites agree. Yes, better than MW2. Of course as a PC fps player I despise MW2's setup.

I haven't played the single player yet.

Thanks, I'm partially asking to find bpers to play with. I'm guessing there won't be 10-15 users on my friend list playing at any given time like mw2.

I really enjoyed the original - in part because the game was about bombing around having fun.

Other than counterstrike, the battlefield games are the only other fps games which were truly great for multiplayer.

The perks ruin mw2.
Halo 2 / 3 had too little skill involved.
Halo 1 was great but my experience there was limited to system link or lan gaming against college floormates or others on campus.
Rainbow six is incredible but too nerve-wracking for casual gaming fun.

Looking forward to playing it.

Haven't tried it yet, had work and other responsibilities today. I'll only have it until the 10th when my rental plan expires (taking a break until the game and movie lineup fills up again).

I much prefer being a team player than an individual head hunter, though.
Riding along in the tank firing out the side only was fun... and would be even better with teammates on headsets (that aren't up past their junior high bed time).
