BCS National Championship Game: TBA vs. TBA (Jan. 8, 2009 - 8 pm Eastern)

After trying to get tickets for the Jan. 07, BCSNCG and eventually succeeding at a hefty price, I decided to get on the season ticket waiting list for as many BCS Bowls as possible just in case the Bucks would happen to make it. Much to my surprise, in my first year of applying I was able to buy tickets to both the Orange and Fiesta.

As a result, the view from my seat location for this year's Orange Bowl and BCS National Championship which I purchased today is below!!! Hopefully, I'll be watching the Bucks. If not, I'll be sitting on a cruise ship in the Caribbean with the proceeds from selling the tickets on ebay!!

Also, if you are not on the Orange Bowl season ticket list and want to secure tickets now, I would suggest checking out Stubhub ASAP. Prices there right now are much more reasonable now than prior to the last two BCSNCG, plus you can always unload them if need be. My guess is at a profit as well.

It will be gratifying to move this thread to the Buckeye Football Forum on November 22nd. But not nearly as gratifying as it will be if I can post reflections on the victory early on the morning of January 9th (rather than spend all my time deleting the posts of trolls :smash: )

Why get tickets for the Orange and Fiesta bowls when the most likely destination for the Buckeyes will be the Rose or the BCS Nat'l Championship game?

Being a ticket buyer for the Orange and Fiesta Bowls gives him the opportunity to get the tickets for the BCS Title games held a week later in one of those same stadiums. He's already setting himself up to be able to get tickets at face value for the 2010 season's BCS Title game in Glendale, Arizona in January, 2011.

BB73 is correct. The goal is eventually to be a season ticket holder for all the BCS games so that every year I can buy BCS title game tickets at face value. It just so happened the I went from the waiting list to being able to buy tickets for the Fiesta and Orange in year 1. Still on the waiting lists for Sugar and Rose. In any event, BCS title tickets for face every other year isn't too bad of a deal, provided that I can get rid of the bowl game tickets in non BCS title game years (eg. Fiesta Bowl this year).

Are you required to buy a full season ticket to be eligible for the 1/8 game?

Once you get off the waiting list you just have to buy tickets to the regular bowl game (Orange, Fiesta, etc.) every year to stay on. Once you're on you can buy tickets to the BCSNCG when it's at that venue, but you still have to buy the regular bowl game too. The Orange Bowl gave me the option of only purchasing the Orange Bowl tickets and not the BCSNCG, but not vice versa. I can't see anyone ever taking that option though.
