Game Thread BCS National Championship Game: tOSU 24, LSU 38 (final)

It is gonna be real interesting to see how the BCS plays out tonight!

Specifically the coaches poll. If I'm not mistaken the final coaches poll is published right?

I wonder where Mark Richt will rank LSU?

I wonder where all ACC coaches in the poll will rank Va Tech?

The final poll will be close, and some coaches could take liberties with their submission.

Maybe Richt calls up Beamer and Mangino and they all decide to not include LSU on their final polls. In the poll you get points for where you are ranked by each pollster right? What if Beamer gets all ACC coaches to unrank LSU? That could give UGA or VT or Kansas the margin they need to finish ahead of LSU! I can't wait to see what happens!

ACC coaches will probably be loyal to an ACC team. Every conference wants one of their teams in the title game. The Big East wanted one so bad that it looked like the Big East officials were trying to give WV every possible chance to beat Pitt last night. Those holding calls were terrible! One cost Pitt a TD. The Big East has a (well deserved) inferiority complex and I think they wanted a Big east team in the NC game bad. It made me sick to watch it and Wannstedd (sp?) was going nuts all game long.

I've heard all the arguments about how LSU seems to be deserving and the logical part of my brain tends to agree that they have a better case than all the teams ranked ahead of them last week (Mizzu, WV, UGA, VT, Kan )but.....

It will just seem ridiculous to me if LSU jumps from #7 to #2 in one week with only 2 of the 6 teams in front of them losing. LSU didn't even look THAT good in the SEC Championship game. Tennessee beat themselves!!!!

VT looked better in their Conference Championship than LSU did!!!

VT's opponent was even a higher ranked opponent than LSU's was!!!

I know LSU beat VT bad early but I guess I just hate that on one given week, VT is good enough to be ranked ahead of LSU in the BCS poll, then VT goes out and delivers arguably a better performance than LSU this Saturday, then all of a sudden, VT isn't good enough to be ranked ahead of LSU anymore.

It's just sickening that these opinion polls are so wishy-washy.

That is what makes this whole BCS system seem so ridiculous!!!!!

I don't care who Ohio State plays. I think we have a good chance to win no matter who it may be. I've seen LSU play quite a bit this year on CBS. They don't scare me!!!!! It will be funny to see Hester get shut down by a "REAL" run defense!! If Hester is shut down, can LSU win? If LSU can't run the ball, can they beat Ohio State? I don't think so. That's the game right there.

I'm just not impressed with their team. I'm not impressed with their koo koo coach (who is probably leaving for scUM after this season so don't believe the lies he spews).

One thing seems certain at this point. Ohio State gets a spot. Period. No one can deny that! And I'm loving that right now!!!

Go Buckeyes!!!!!!

Unfortunatley for us our 0-9 record against the SEC in bowl games is well known. Beating LSU in their own back yard will do some to silence the critics but as we all know SEC homers have selective memories and a tOSU win will be met with talk of how we have only beaten the SEC once. An arguement based on current facts is useless with an SEC fan, such an arguement requires intelligence and most SEC fans are not equipped for such a thing.
:osu:
Current facts are you were thumped by UF in January, as Michigan was thumped by USC, and the almost Big 10 Champ was torched by Oregon this year and beaten by Appy State. That is the argument made, and it indeed is based upon current facts. An argument made by you about the strength of the Big-10 will be seen by everyone outside the Big-10 the same way.

0-9 is an ugly stat. Now I know that it is not reflective of current strengths of tOSU and Georgia or LSU. But the fact is you had an easier schedule this year than many teams. Doesn't mean that you won't kick your SEC opponent's ass in New Orleans, because you certainly might do so. But when your biggest game for the championship is with Appy State victim, people will pause a bit when reflecting on relative strengths.

But if you were 9-0 versus (fill in the blank) conference in bowl games, I have absolutely no doubt I'd hear y'all use that as an argument. If you beat that same conferences champion 41-14 the previous year, while the other power from that conference got ass-raped by USC, you would not be praising the power of that conference and saying how that conference is among the CURRENT best conferences.

The best way to find out if all of your slams against SEC fans is correct is to punk LSU in the Dome. But saying how "that won't shut them up" is the same as saying last year that beating Florida won't them up. Well, I read that same type post back then, but the beat Florida part did not work out.

So what is needed is less talk about why the disrespect, and more whoop ass on the actual field by your higher tier conference teams.

I'm sure it will be a good game. But I'll give you this: any SEC fan who would take beating you as a given would indeed be an idiot.

...And I figure that to be around 9/10 SEC fans who think it's a sure thing that we'd get thumped. I'd rather enjoy a trip to the title game for the third time in six years than to care what they think, though. A win over an SEC team this year would just be icing on the cake.

I've updated the thread title to male LSU the opponent. It's not official yet, but it will be this evening.

The Coaches poll is out, and LSU is a solid #2 in that poll. The same should be true in the Harris poll, where they were 5th last week, and only need to jump Georgia to get to #2 in that poll.

It seems almost a given that LSU will be the opponent. The fact that the game is in Louisiana bothers me, but then I remember that two of the best performances by the Buckeyes this year were at PSU and at TSUN. Ohio State was very focused in those two road environments - let's hope that carries on to the Superdome.

Not quite how we all thought it would happen, but we got what we wanted.

January 7th, 2008. Against all the odds and against the predictions of all the "experts," on a field which most say we don't even belong on, we have now been given one single, scintillating opportunity to banish forever the nightmares of one year prior.

Let's make it happen. Go Bucks.

Ohio State always travels well. Don't be surprised if more Buckeye fans are there then LSU.

You're telling that to somebody who has attended twelve straight games that tOSU has played outside the 'Shoe, and last night bought a ticket to #13. :wink2:

Last time I checked we were 2-1 against the mighty SEC in bowl games last year. Auburn will get their asses kicked by Wisconsin this year...they are slated for the Cap one. Florida will beat the shit out of meshitagain. Looks like the rubber match will be OSU and LSU.

IMO Florida, Auburn, and Georgia are better than LSU on neutral fields. Heck if it were not for that pick 6 Tenn wins the SEC championship.

The B10 is better than SEC buttfucks want to realize. We are almost dead even over tha last 15 years in bowl games. Add the fact all of these bowl games are in SEC country.

USC, Okla, Florida, and Georgia are better than LSU. LSU lacks discipline and Leslie will find a way to lose the game. Their special teams is like special ed. Damn I wish that douchebag would take he Michigan job.
