You kids stay off my lawn!
Almost wish I'd wasted a blank DVD to record the WVU - U Conn game. I can't believe that someone from this league gets a BCS bowl slot.

After their third possession the U Conn O- Linemen were looking for places to fall down so they wouldn't get creamed by WVU guys.

Pity the poor crew in the booth that have to try and breath life into this cadaver.

"Yeah, that win over Rutgers is looking bigger and bigger." No offense to Rutgers, but if that is one of the biggest wins that you have going into a BCS game, you are in for some trouble. Agree with cinci, haven't seen a deserving Big East BCS team this year.

To be fair UConn is working with a 3rd string true freshman QB making his second start. Craig James said tonight he had WVU 12th. To me the look like a 5/6 place B10 team. Their running game looks good but their QB looks on par with Bellarsi as far accuracy.

The thing about WVU is they will win those sorry ass games moving them up in the rankings, while teams that are clearly better than them and would have the same kind of record as them playing there schedule will be 10-15 spots below them.

Put WVU in the Big Ten and they finish behind, Us, scUM, PSU, Wisky, NWU, Iowa, MSU, Minny, be even with Purdue.

Yet they are ranked 18 in the country. Explain that one, any takers?

Easy...the NCAA and media especially, but also all the sponsors of the BCS, want these guys ranked high so they don't look stupid all year and can make money on fake hype. Everyone who has seen a college football game in the last 5 years and has at least 3 brain cells (i.e. everyone in all 50 states except Michigan Wolverine fans) knows that Big East is a suckwad conference, and is thinking exactly the same thing...whoever makes it to the BCS from the conference is gonna get ass-reamed by whoever they play, just like they did last year. So, they have to be ranked high, so the assclowns on ESPN can say things like "West Virginia, despite their impressive number 11 ranking, has been verbally beaten up all year for the conference they play in...everyone thinks that Alabma is going to destroy them in the bowl game...will that be motivation enough for Rich Rodriguez's team to come out and shock the world? Tune in to ABC January 2nd to find out!"

Now, everyone knows this is a crock, but remember the BCS games are the only games on when they are played, so they somehow have to make the sponsors believe that their hype will generate enough interest to justify their advertising revenue costs. Only an artifically inflated ranking, a "Rodney Dangerfield no respect" subplot and Mark May getting verbally spanked by Lou Holtz can convince them of that, and in the end, it's all about the money, and someone from the Big East playsi in one game, like it or not.

Now, all that said, it's total Bullshit, but that's the way it is.

BE

I agree to the fact that the BE is pretty bad. But theres really nothing WVU can do about it but go out and win games. I mean come on, we may suck compared to u guys, but the only team we've lost to is VT....take our our 2 turnovers which led to 14 VT pts, its a different game...im not trying to make excuses, becasue we lost, plain and simple....but give WVU a small bit of credit for being 7-1. we are ranked 17th, not 4th. and were winning these games with only 4 senior starters. our youth is really impressing me this year and how they have been able to overcome adversity.

but good luck the rest of the way. I hope ya'll beat the hell out of Michigan coming up...:osu:

Holt,

From my perspective, I and I think many others aren't trashing WVU per se. I think you have a good team, and certainly it will be good enough to beat anyone in the Big East. I think much of what we have here is frustration that we took 2 of the top 10 BCS teams down to the wire, and we could get shut out of the BCS even if we win out, whereas a team from what can only be described as a terrible conference gets an automatic bid. I understand your perspective, and I'm sure you'd like to be playing better teams than you are, but you can't control that.

WVU has don a good job having to replace a lot of people, so kudos to your team for that, and I hope you get the BCS bid, because no other team in the conference would even remotely deserve it.

Not a bad post there West Virginian. I don't want to discredit WVU's record, because regardless of the schedule, you still have to go win the games.

But do you honestly believe that the Big East Champ still deserves a BCS bid?
