Except that I didn't see the ND person suggest that they'd get those exceptions...just some angry BPer who stated that. I don't see that as relevant to someone from ND stating that they'll have a conference..... ....'cause they will if they want one. Nothing at all arrogant about that if that is what was said. I haven't seen where someone said that other conferences would make other concessions.

Doesn't matter if we dump our last marriage, everyone else will take us...

...is extremely arrogant. The big ten will not take them without very specific rules and restrictions.

If the superconferences are coming, I fail to see a need to be the most talented. As long as the B1G is eligible, stable and wildly profitable, then let the B12 circus chase after the mythical best conference title.

Until very recently, the best team in CFB often emerged from a weaker conference. The SEC run has been unusual.

I agree with every part of your sentiment except the first paragraph. I don't see it as arrogant since it's basically true. Every conference would take them, but likely with their usual stipulations that any other school would have to ahere to. If you are ND, you can feel safe in the knowledge that you'll have a home. Shoot, if tOSU was in the same position, they'd be even more safe. As are schools like Texas, TSUN, etc. So, I just don't see that as arrogant. Guess you and I can agree to disagree on that.

Again, as for the rest of your comments, I completely agree.

ND has been treated with kid gloves since Keith Jackson's parents were knee high. They have an overwhelming and insatiable need to feel "special" and not be "just another team in a conference". The Big XII is saying they can give them special treatment, something the B1G isn't willing to do because they know them and their games all too well. If the B1G DOES give any concessions (and I don't think they would), it will be with some sacrifices on the Domer's part that I'm sure they "just couldn't live without". Besides, the only folks at ND that give a shit about the B1G is their faculty. They're not coming here.

If worse comes to worse and things don't work out with the Big XII and the have to join a conference kicking and screaming, they'll join the Pac out west, because the Pac is going to have to REEEEEEALLY start reaching if they want legitimate teams that reside out west to make it to 14 or 16, and ND is arrogant enough to make that happen. Plus, they'd have immediate rivals in USC and Stanford that they would demand they play every year in conference.

In all seriousness, the Domers to the Big XII would be a potential best case scenario for the B1G... even better than actually joining the B1G. Texas might as well be testicular cancer to any conference, and ND might as well be breast cancer. The potential expansion of the Big XII adding ND (plus the Big Dick Bowl between the SEC & Big XII) might strengthen that conference temporarily, but it won't stabilize that conference. The Big XII is still doomed to fail at some point. When the Big XII can't keep up with the SEC in that bowl game and the domers and horns don't get their way, they'll end up starting a series of events that will end with member institutions starting to look elsewhere and ask themselves "Why didn't I do this sooner when I had a chance years ago?"

That said, I'll believe ND joins a conference when I see it.

Seems all the talk is of the conferences moving to 16 teams. If that happens, I'd be okay with UVA, BC, UNC and Maryland all joining the B1G.

Do you really want to have an B1G (East Division) of

Ohio State
Michigan
Michigan State
Penn State
Maryland
UNC
UVa
BC

?

Yuk.....:(

Thanks just threw up in my mouth a little...other than beating UNC in Basketball on a regular basis this doesn't appeal in anyway. However The BIG will never let this happen and miss out on a Championship game that could feature tOSU and scUM...ever.

man alive that is a lot of television sets.....a lot of good recruiting grounds.....and some potentially good football teams that in my opinion will be much better after they join the B1G than before.

I suspect BC will not get invited and Rutgers will be instead.

The time frame for #ND phasing in football could allow them to phase out contracts with #Purdue, #MSU, #GoBlue, #USC, #Stanford or #Navy.

@TheWarNole I don't know exactly how fast, but am told in the #ND athletic department that today things were "all go" for the move. #Surreal

The #BigEast is virtually dead, and the #ACC is quickly dying...at least as far as the football world is conidered.

The #ND deal apparently was a catalyst for getting #FSU aboard all along. This thing is happening fast now for the #Big12...

I'm told that #ND will jump in #Big12 very soon with Olympic sports, and then football joins after TV contract expires. #BlowsMyMind

With #FSU & #ND quite possibly to the #Big12, and their precedent setting deal with the #SEC, the #B1G won't want to sit around long either.

I don't think it's that bad. They may not be perennial powers but they can put together a competitive team most years. And they do have strong teams in other sports, such as basketball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, etc.

EDIT: I was thinking, does anyone think the B1G could steal Kentucky or Tennessee from the SEC? Would the B1G ever want them?
