I didn't wanna be the one to bring it up.... but I totally agree with you. We got inside the stadium about 80 mins. before kickoff so we saw pretty much all the warmups. you would've thought it was a Tuesday afternoon practice. I knew we were pretty much effed. I think Smith has his mind off in another place. Probably knows he won't see the field, and I don't think he really wants to.

Note to staff... don't schedule a road night game following a bye week. Better yet, go without a bye week.

back i was also at the game, this is the flatest i have seen a team since coopers near loss to uc in the late 90s we came out flat. our guys didnt warm up hard, troy smith was screwing around big time during warm ups and our team had no emotion in warm ups or in the game, if you dont show up its hard to win. we didnt show up and its proof anytime can win on any given day. this is an oppurtuinty we can from learn from it or quit like our def did in ot. hopefully we can us this as a learning experience for our young team

Is that the only case? Is this team's only problem motivation? I seriously hope all this team needed was a pick in the seat by NU to wake them up. It's hard to stay on your game for 30+ games (ask Miami ).

We are a much better team than we showed yesterday.
We are? I'm not so sure...the only improvement I saw on Saturday was the offensive line, and I can only say that because they have played so poorly in the past. Zwick simply looked terrible. So did Ross. Pittman was at least picking up 3 yards a carry, but even Santonio dropped a couple passes that hit him in the hands. I would say that Tressel was out-coached, but the damn team couldn't execute anything, so that's tough to call. Our defense was exposed, and it all goes back to an issue I brought up immediately following the Marshall game - our defensive line. Do we even have one? Those front four guys need to get some pressure on the QB. I don't remember one sack, and very few QB pressures. I'm sad to say that I don't think this Buckeye team is nearly as good as I thought it was. We got smacked around the gridiron by a bad football team. The score was much closer than it should have been. It's one thing to lose a game because of turnovers or offensive mistakes, but we just flat out couldn't execute against their defense. Yes, Northwestern's defense. We didn't hand them the game, they won it. I don't care if we were flat or not, we still should have beaten a pathetic B10 bottom-dweller. I hope we can turn this around, and when I look at our team, I don't understand it. The talent surely seems to be there, but Saturday says otherwise. I'm not saying this is a horrible team, but from what we've seen this year, I don't think it's a top ten team. I hope I'm wrong.

I have a huge problem with the defensive scheme as well. If those front four aren't getting any pressure on the QB, then this pathetic two-deep zone we've been playing is going to lose us more games this year. The coaches (Snyder in particular) NEED to see this, and make changes.

With the way we played last week, I think both pools were kind to us... a loss to a scrub team is one thing... playing the way we did, in that loss to a scrub team is another...

Time to gut check.... and kick the snot out of Wisky!!!

Step it up, and GO BUCKS!!!

That's exactly what I meant when I said we're a better team than what we showed. You don't think we're actually as bad as we looked, or Northwestern is that much better of a team? We came out flat and unmotivated, and yet still almost pulled out another close one. I think we'll see a totally different team this weekend.

I hope you're right, Mili. To me, it still all depends on the defense. To my mind, the Buckeyes defense (especially their line) was exposed on Saturday, and if no changes are made, it's just gonna go downhill from here. I think we have a hell of a lot more talent than Northwestern, but they exposed our defense.

Couldn't agree more. Check out this little factoid.

OSU under JT (43games, OT included)

Opponent scores 30 or more: 1-4 (.200)
Opponent scores less than 30: 34-4 (.895)
