Bill O’Brien (HC Boston College, aka BillyBob O’Buttchin et al)

Apparently he left his family back there cause he has a sick kid who they want to keep with his doctors.

So that would be the likely motivation if it happens.

He wants the BC job pretty bad but he's not one of their top choices from what I was told from a BC booster. They've had a love affair with Liam Coen for years, but if a few turn it down I could see BOB happening.

Former Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien reportedly 'wants' head coaching job at Boston College

And according to the New England Football Journal's Kevin Stone, they aren't just rumors. Instead, they are a real possibility.

Stone reports that O'Brien wants the job and Boston College wants him to take over, but they are working to settle all the other necessary parts.

So since there is mutual interest, let's see if a deal can get done. And then O'Brien will be trading in Gillette Stadium in Foxborough for Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill.

Can't blame him, but bloody hell, where do we go from here? I don't want the most loaded team Day has had sabotaged because he's gone back to calling plays.

I don't think he does all of this and then punts because of terrible luck. Supposedly talked to Kelly first but the buyout was too much. At this point just find the money. Not sure there's a better choice otherwise.

Chip Kelly as OC lmao. There's no way. There has to be a law against that
He wants the hell out of UCLA. It seems like his first preference is OC in the NFL. It seems like he is over college football, probably relating to the new realities of NIL and recruiting. If his old colleague/protege/friend Day offers him the position he’s looking for (OC) and promises him he doesn’t have to recruit, he just has to analyze film, come up with game plans, and call plays… all the things that make him prefer the NFL OC gig over being at the college level… I don’t see why it’s outside the realm of possibility.

The speculation is the UCLA buyout was the hang up last time… which also seems like it won’t be an issue with the shift in the “spend money” attitude lately.

Or is the concern with him being a bad coordinator?

I don't thoink it would be. He knows how design a run game. The big Question is how is he at QB coaching?

I'm all for Chip as OC I just don't think it'll happen. Glad to be proven wrong tho
I don’t know what happened last year (70th offense) but ‘21 and ‘22 were top 10-15.

If there’s one thing Chip can do it’s put a high-powered college offense together.

That would be an unreal upgrade, even over BOB. There’s no way.
