Bitching about the 2004 Season

The running game did look better at times today but the penalties are just more fo the same from this offense. Whether it be penalties, TO's, missed blocks, dropped passes, there is always something. The bottom line is still sub par offensive performance but for the first time all year I did see flashes of hope today.

I don't think we are going to beat any of the three with current levels of play, although the DBackfield did seem a little more with it today, obviously. Troy has an interesting pass style, although a couple times he waited a little to long. Don't know why these younger guys can't just fire it out of bounds after a point. Pleanty of flashes of good things from several today, though. If we can just put it all together, we can beat at least one of the remaining teams and go to a bowl, the practice for which I think is critical, let alone for team morale.
Go Bucks!

where's the play action?

a key to any offense is a good play action game and seeing that we were doing a pretty good job of running the ball i was hoping for it. to my count we only ran one and it was the same play we look for the bomb on every time. its been a trend all year long. no play action in the red zone when it is most useful and none on 2nd and short or 3rd and short. I just really can;t comprejhend JT's play calling but hey maybe thats why he;s making the big bucks. just seems to me that if you wanna have a well rounded offense and maybe hit the tight end once in while that calling a PA pass once in a while wouldn;t hurt.

I would love to see Smith fake handoffs and then bootleg with the option to throw or pass. It would keep the DE and OLB from caving down to tackle our RB's and keep the Safety's honest. I've never seen our Offense do this but this play makes the defense cover the entire field and would keep defenses from sitting on the run. JMO, but I would love to see this play implemented in the O!

When you have a running game, that is the time to use play action.

We use play action on 3rd,and 15. Hmmmm.

But when we have a 2nd, and 2 we just run up the gut to get the first down.
Play action would be a good decision sometimes on those situations.
Especially with a guy like Smith.
I would like to see some of the old student body left, or right with him.
More bootleg action. Run less QB draws,a nd more boots.

Keep the defense guessing.
