BP Fantasy Baseball (2008-2023, Current Champion = MD Buckeye)

I like this approach because I'm not trying to disparage anything by saying "luck". What it is is random variance. Any shitburger can get hot for a week. If you want to see if that 4th OF can stay hot for 2-3 weeks, it's a different decision.

I go into full stream mode at the end as much or more than anyone, the current format rewards it more than it punishes it so that is why I have been asking about a traditional 5x5 roto format but the extended playoffs might be the better middle ground (assuming yahoo let's us do it).

I like these ideas

I don't like 5x5 roto because it makes 90% of relievers useless in a sport where using multiple relievers is now common place. Some of the better relievers aren't closers. Now if we want to talk about an expanded version of roto I'm all ears.

As for expanded playoffs it appears that is still not an option. I'd love to make the semifinals and final two weeks, but it's just not there.

The league is now up. I had to finalize teams to make a schedule but that can be undone if someone can't play this season. Just let it be known if that's the case so we can find a replacement.

BTW, week one is over 18 days because a couple teams are opening in Asia while everyone else is still in Spring Training. That could be changed and we'd begin play on April 8th rather than March 20th. Traditional opening day is on March 28th. Thoughts?

I'd be down for an expanded roto or just keep it h2h

Going that early would result in an early draft...I kinda want to start on April 8th personally.

I'm on board with Mike

I agree. Starting that early for two teams playing two games in South Korea isn't worth it.

I've now got us starting April 8th, which would have the playoffs end September 8th.

Still a balanced regular season schedule - everyone faces everyone else twice.

We could also have an early April draft with a bit more knowledge of the teams by then.

Could you set up a 6x6 roto with the same categories as the current head to head format has? That way you are incorporating both holds and saves as separate roto categories?

I wouldn’t mind trying something different to shake things up a bit and try roto for a year, and if the group doesn’t like it, we can always switch back to head to head. I also get not wanting to switch formats too, but the guy with the best team is guaranteed to win in roto when that isn’t necessarily the case in head to head.

I'm open to the idea. Let's see what folks have to say about it. I'd set up a poll if I could figure out how.

EDIT: I created a poll if someone can sticky it.
