Braylon's ego worse than I feared

BuckeyeTrail

Michael Jenkins...does it again!!!
Edwards can catch a pass, and he can throw a party

Browns rookie receiver Braylon Edwards has yet to catch a touchdown pass in the NFL, but the first-round pick already can throw a party like an established All-Pro.

Folks still are buzzing over a swanky party held Friday in a Detroit hotel by Edwards, a for mer University of Michigan star, to celebrate reaching the NFL. Among the 400-plus guests: quarterback and fellow Browns rookie Charlie Frye, Detroit Pistons stars Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamil ton, Michigan linebacker (and former Glenville High standout) Pierre Woods, actress Meagan Good and assorted other pro players and rappers.

While dining on fine food (one invitee ranked the grub at Edwards' bash among the best he's had at an athlete's party), partygoers could view highlights of Edwards' Michigan career on huge TV screens. Or they could tour a display of Edwards' various football jerseys - starting from his Pee-wee football days.

I'm a browns fan and was happy with the selection, but god damn, the ego on this guy.

Well, when you have a system that pays guys that much before ever putting on a jersey, this is what you get. If I got made by the NFL like that, I'd throw a huge ass party too. Bring me your finest meats and cheeses!

There's a difference between throwing extremely expensive parties... and doing so where the focus is on praising yourself the whole time. Whatever happened to thinking you were all that because you were throwing a sweet party? Maybe next time around he can actually have people sign up to worship a 20 foot statue of himself.

Don't get me wrong - I fucking hate him because he's from tsun. I don't see how this is any worse than a graduation party though. I mean, who do those kids think they are, showing off their honor roll certificates like that?! How big of an ego do you have to have to celebrate something as simple as graduating from high school - something you're SUPPOSED to do anyway? At least Edwards was celebrating an accomplisment that only a relative handful ever reach.

Don't hate him for his parties and his cars. That's just lame. Hate him for that stupid helmet he wore in college.

jlb1705, most graduation parties I went to in high school weren't thrown to show off honor certificates, but rather to celebrate the end of 12 straight years of school and to welcome the transition into "the real world". It's totally different than his bling-bling look-at-me party.

An NFL rookie doing a video tribute to himself using his college career and Pee Wee football jersys is beyond fucking lame. That's up there with Winslow striking the Heisman pose vs La Tech in Game 1 and never catching another all year (or in his career to date, lol).

BTW I hate him for his stupid helmet too. :wink2:

Okay, I am not trying to defend a michigan grad, however, I read a week or so ago the party was actually to thank three men in his life who have supported, guided him and made him what he is today. One was his father and I do not recall who the other two were (I'm sure one was not the "Coach of Catching in the Clutch). Also, what I heard about the car was his agent let him have one big purchase and that was it. At least it has four wheels and you cannot do wheelies with it.

Also, please remember that the article was written by gossip columnist Roger Brown.

PS Thanks for the clip, Mili. That embodies his career.

"Henne's gonna throw.....Braylon Edwards dropped it!! Buckeye football, inside the 30 yard line!" -Brent Musberger

I love that he dropped that pass. scUM's only real, and last, shot to actually get back in "The Game." Game over, won some petty cash. GO BUCKS

I am a Cleveland Browns fan. I am proud of it. I love those orange helmets, and the ugliest (BEST) uniforms in the NFL. I understand the fact that we (I am a Brown) aren't that good, and since when I was in grade school, we have pretty much sucked (exluding, of course, the mid-to-late 80's).

I am an Ohio State fan. I am proud of it. I love those metal-flake silver helmets without logos, and I actually prefer the Buckeye leaf stickers. Nothing else like it. I understand we (I am also a Buckeye) have the Best uniforms in college football. We won the NCAA football mythical National Championship in 2002, just 3 seasons ago, and are in position to challenge for another very soon.

As a Buckeye, I was instantly pissed (but not because I didn't see it coming) when the Browns took BE. I'm a Buckeye. Michigan is my evil. Thank the OSU gods he dropped that pass. He'll be a savior to the Browns. I don't imagine he'll blow his career on a motorcycle, only because of the lightning striking twice theory.

I am now a Braylon Edwards fan. I kinda have to be. Just like when we drafted "the soldier" Kellen Winslow. I'm a Brown. #17 kinda bothers me because it's just gonna draw attention (WR #80's anyone) This party doesn't bother me very much.

I might not invite 400 people, but I would celebrate. I'm gonna spoil my family and friends like I wish they would spoil me. I don't know many people who would not celebrate after cashing a check for 7 digits. If he doesn't do it now, would you prefer he did it next weekend or next year? I can't blame him. I am set up in a position in my life where I can make good money while consequently allowing my father to retire. I'm gonna do it. It benefits both us, and my mother, by them traveling, raising grandkids, etc... It however is not even scratching the surface of what BE just put in the bank. I don't think most of us can comprehend how much money these guys make. We hear it on Sportscenter, and read it in the paper and (if you're like me) you pick your jaw up off of the floor. A party with superstars? What do you expect? What would you do?

A party with his pee-wee jerseys? OK, that might be a little bit out-there. The guy is probably 23 years old. I can relate to the "young and dumb and full of cum" theory. He's not even a year out of college, married, or even old enough to lower his car insurance, but he's being called out for throwing a party. I'm not sure what I would do after a paycheck like that, but I'm pretty sure changing my underwear would be in the Top 5. He is a celebrity, by nature, because of exposure, money, BLING, etc....we created it as fans, bro.

Have another party Braylon, just invite me next time....
