    On the eve of the Alamo Bowl most folks aren't paying any attention to Thad Matta's bunch. It appears they may have been looking forward to tomorrow as well as they pull off a sloppy game against an inferior opponent. Tony Stockman was ice cold tonight. On the positive note Terence Dials appears to still be blazing hot with 24points and 14 boards.
     
    It's so hard to tell how good these guys are because of the schedule. I don't remember the last time I saw the Basketball Buckeyes schedule such a cakewalk.

    The teams that we are beating by twenty or thirty are getting beat by forty or fifty by top 25 teams. We could either be the best kept secret in the Big Ten, or we may just be beating up on inferior teams to make ourselves feel good.

    I realize these are the kind of teams that beat us last year, but I would rather watch a close loss to a top 25 team than a blowout win over all of these low mid majors.

    New Hampshire's last lead was at 23-22 on Mike Christensen's 3-pointer with 8:50 left in the half. Ohio State took the lead for good on Dials' putback 20 seconds later. The Buckeyes stretched a 32-20 lead by scoring seven of the next eight points _ four by Dials.

    Well, Sagarin has us at #33 now for the overall rating. Our schedule strength is embarrassing, at #254. The Predictor score takes in the point differences, and we are best there. Predictor also is the best at predicting a win or loss. We fall a bit more with each of these cupcakes.

    Given the home court advantage, we would go into the Illinois game as about 18 point underdogs at the standard rating and about a ten point underdog at Predictor. If we hang within ten, then this team seems like they could make 20 wins.

    One thing is for certain, three games into the Big Ten schedule and we'll have a good feel for it.

    hey, they play the schedule they were given, last year with the effort they gave, some of these games would have been close. Who really cares about strength of schedule when we will be home this year, I think its more important to develop the team and play hard.

    They have shown vast improvement over last year.

    Do you really believe racing out to huge halftime leads and sleepwalking through the second half makes this team better? Some teams pad their schedule with four or five sure wins but NINE of our first ten wins are laughable. If this was football, these teams would almost all be I-AA competition! Texas Tech wasn't exactly the test we made it out to be either, following Iowa's thrashing of them.

    People always wonder why teams like Duke, Michigan State, Kentucky, Etc... always are so tough when the end of the season comes around? It's because they took their lumps early, played quality competition and learned how to play a full ball game. I'm not suggesting we are, or even should play elite teams (The Big Ten schedule takes care of that for the most part), but at some point you have to wonder if you really care that we beat a totally overmatched team by 20?

    When I played ball, I was more satisfied when we beat quality teams by a single point than when we wasted a blowout effort on a crap team. Character is built through stuggles and you can't fix problems that haven't been exploited. We are walking into the Big Ten season unaware of where teams are going to hit us. This will be an UGLY first few games in the Big Ten.

    We might've played some cupcakes early on but the next few games are brutal!

    St Joe's, @ILL, Iowa, @Wisc., @LSU. I agree LSU isn't that great but an out of conference away game in the middle of conference play in never easy, especially to an SEC opponent.
