Best Place to Buy Cheap Textbooks: Amazon

Lifehacker

Last week we asked you to share your favorite place to buy cheap textbooks, then we tallied up the votes and showcased the top five contenders. Now we're back with your favorite.

Leading the pack with 43.1% of the vote was Amazon.com?the massive selection at Amazon coupled with the huge number of 3rd party sellers in the Amazon Marketplace make it a tough contender to beat. Following Amazon was Half.com with 17.45% of the vote. Rounding out the top five were Chegg (13.82%), BIGWORDS (10.62%), and AbeBooks (8.6%).

Thanks to you-know-who-you-are, whoever you are.

Wish I would have known about this before because 2 weeks ago I ordered 25 HD TVs along with 25 DVR's not to mention the $25,000 I spent on other miscellaneous items:biggrin2:

Clicky Click Click

BuckeyePlanet.org is our new affiliate store, mainly for Amazon.com's program. You shop Amazon's full catalog, BP earns, and it doesn't cost anything extra.

Once you've picked a few items, the cart will take you to Amazon.com to log in and complete the purchase using their system. We don't have a login feature on the BP store at all, and receive no information identifying who has used the system, only a list of items that have been ordered.

I placed an order earlier this week to test the system. Works great, and at the rate I shop online, it will be the equivalent of adding another monthly donation subscription. If we get our other Amazon addicts to do the same, it will be a wonderful boost for the site.

A store link is now on the menu bar up thataways ^.

Thanks for trying it out! :)

BuckeyePlanet is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.
Doh! I just ordered off of amazon and didn't know this.

Have to get the wifey involved also!
Untying her and letting her out of the basement for this may have repercussions. :wink2: Though if you are going to do it, doing it for BP is as good a reason as any.

I've put a little post-it note on the monitor to remind Mrs. MightbeaBuck to use the BP route. Actually it's to remind me. In the heat of a buying frenzy, I will forget quicker than anyone. :!

Cool stuff.

Students can also get Prime free for a year: Amazon Student.

I picked up a Prime account last week and will see how much of my shopping can be done online. I'm 20 minutes from the grocery store, 30 from some decent shopping, and 60 from what I'd consider good shopping, so I'll save enough in gas to cover it pretty quickly. Of course, not getting coughed on in long Christmas lines will pretty much make it worthwhile in itself; usually, I find out what's open past midnight and those are the only places I shop after October.

I saw something about being able to share memberships, but haven't looked into the circumstances where that's possible yet.

Buying a handheld GPS and other outdoor items. I'll use the affiliate site. Just wish that GPS would come down another few dollars. Might play the waiting game for a few days before I order though. I'll also make sure the wife uses the affiliate site for Christmas shopping. That should end the recessions right there. Damn can she spend money!!!:ohwell:
