C Ibrahima Diallo (transfer to San Jose St., transfer to UCF)

Ibrahima Diallo commits Ohio State

“I picked Ohio State because I have a good connection with coach [Chris] Holtmann,” Diallo said. “I have a connection with the coach, and I trust him. He’s a good coach. He knows what he’s doing and he’s got a good program.”

“I’ve been thinking about it, the past couple of weeks,” he added. “Me and my family talked about it and we ended up making that decision.”

Re: As a 7-foot, 226-pound center, Diallo has a relatively raw offensive game, but his 7-foot-9 wingspan allows him to be a force defensively in the paint. He averaged 11.3 points, 10.8 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game in 10 games on the prep circuit as a senior.

"Ibrahima's really embraced his role as far as being that defensive juggernaut for us, cleaning the glass, changing shots, just being super active and then setting great picks in the half-court on offense," Billy McKnight, Diallo's high school coach, told Eleven Warriors on March 19.

Ohio State increased its pursuit of Diallo after seeing him play for Prolific Prep in the Flyin' To The Hoop event. After taking a trip to check out Pittsburgh in mid-February, he took a visit to Columbus on the weekend of March 9 and 10. McKnight said the visit impressed Diallo, leading to a tough decision between Ohio State and Pittsburgh.

Just wondering, what level of competition does Prolific Prep play?

"Ibrahima is a mobile 7-footer with a gigantic wingspan of 7'8.5," Prolific Prep coach Billy McKnight told 247Sport. "He can run the floor, move on defense, and impacts the game so much defensively that he will have an immediate impact at the next level. He simply will change a defense for the better and start fast breaks with his blocked shots and altering of shots."

"He is extremely active on the defensive end, changing and blocking shots, and rebounds in and out of his zone," Prolific Prep co-director Philippe Doherty told 247Sports. "He was a game changer for us defensively when he was on the floor. He's a fluid runner in space, sets great screens in transition and in the half court and finishes above the rim. He will have an impact on the floor his freshman year."

Brian Snow says not to expect much of anything from Diallo next season and people should probably listen.

But I can already feel the sizable contingent of fans amassing to crucify Holtmann when Diallo can't get off the bench next season.

thank you, again, for the "keeping it real" portion of today's broadcast.

claiming that osu fans may be expecting too much of diallo next season is a nicely built straw man. pretty much all you're going to find is fans here or there hoping diallo can give us about 5 minutes. is anyone even penciling him in for 10+ minutes? heck, many fans are open to the possibility that diallo may redshirt. if that's expecting too much, well...

All these pages and not one mention of how the Greg Oden effect for this kids further development may work out.
Ohio State men’s basketball | Ibrahima Diallo commits for 2019 class

Diallo said he enjoyed his official visit to Ohio State, one of two that he took, along with Pittsburgh. At OSU, he met with Greg Oden, a student coach with the team and a former No. 1 NBA draft pick.

“That was a great visit, to be honest,” he said. “I had a chance to meet Greg Oden. He’s a really good guy. I look up to him. I used to watch him. He was the No. 1 pick, so that was cool. I got to relate to the guys and all of the coaching staff on my visit. That was really cool. I really liked it.”
