C Victor Cutler, Jr. (transfer to Louisville)

Anyone thinking this is the guy we really wanted most and coaches knew he was leaning this way? Little shorter than expected for a really good OT but I'm in.

EDIT: 2 years of eligibility left is very nice!
I don’t see this kid on the outside. Imo, this is competition to start opposite Jackson, or even take over at OC. Regardless, if the coaches feel he can make the OL I’m all for it. But I would’ve preferred an OT instead or as well.
It helps that he comes to OSU having played against decent competition during his college years. ULM played Texas, Bama, UK and LSU while he’s been there and held his own. And did so at multiple positions. If he’s nothing more than depth at all 3 IOL positions, then this is still a win

With a Pro Football Focus grade of just 42.8 for the 2022 season, Cutler won’t come to Ohio State as a sure bet to earn a starting spot. That said, he earned one of his highest grades of the year last season against Alabama, allowing zero pressures in pass protection. And he gives the Buckeyes another veteran offensive lineman with significant starting experience, which Ohio State lacked outside of returning starters Donovan Jackson and Matt Jones. His experience playing both tackle positions and center could allow him to provide depth at all five offensive line spots.

Cutler started all 12 games at left tackle last season for ULM, and also started at right tackle and center earlier in his career. The 6-foot-3, 306-pound West Monroe native will be a fifth-year senior with two years of eligibility remaining.
Cutler started at least one game in each of the past three seasons. As the Warhawks’ left tackle last season he allowed eight sacks among 28 pressures on 408 pass-blocking opportunities, per Pro Football Focus. Per that site, he was the team’s lowest-graded starting offensive lineman.

LT 65 Michalski, Zen RS SO 67 Tshabola, Tegra RS FR 00 Montgomery, Luke FR
LG 74 Jackson, Donovan RS SO 66 Vimahi, Enokk RS SR
OC 78 James, Jakob RS JR 00 Cutler, Victor RS JR/TR 54 Wilson, Toby RS SO
RG 55 Jones, Matthew GR 75 Hinzman, Carson RS FR
RT 70 Fryar, Josh RS JR

Baring any injuries I don't see him starting; however, he does provide some much needed depth on the OL.

I think he’s rated so low because he played out of position due to necessity. Thankfully he won’t have to worry about playing outside at OSU.
But I agree that he provides depth. It’ll be interesting to see what he can do focusing on solely the interior. it helps that he has 2yrs of eligibility left

Yeah, his versatility is his strongest point.

Interesting…..he said this morning on “The Podcast” interview the coaches recruited him to come compete for the Center position. My guess is they continue to project Jackson and Jones at Guard. Could obviously change but doesn’t appear they view him as a Tackle.

Vic Cutler was on THE Podcast today with Birm. Vic sounds like a good kid with a solid head on his shoulders. Wants to go to PT school after his football career is over. He started playing football in HS, played basketball mainly growing up. OL who were also basketball players tend to work out well. He's also already graduated from ULM with a Kinesiology degree as well. And already started bonding with Donovan Jackson and Enokk Vimahi.
Said the staff sold him on coming in to play center. He is originally from Detroit and was raised to hate OSU but now he says he’s a Buckeye for life and when it comes time to play the team up north, he wants to beat ‘em. Great interview.

Interesting, so I guess there will be a 3 way battle at OC: Jones, James and Cutler. Winner gets to start at OC and 2nd place goes to OG

Certainly seems like he has the mindset you want in a transfer guy. Worked hard and got better and still has a chip on his shoulder and wants to be better. Seems like he’ll be coachable and if Frye pushed for him, who would I be to argue with that.
