Can Clemson Beat Us? (formerly Can we beat Clemson?)

What the hell, I'll bite.

OSU has some obvious warts, but I don't believe they're unfixable between now and Dec 31 with a month of bowl practices. An opportunistic offense and a stingy defense that forces opponents into a lot of turnovers is a recipe that has stood the test of time for decades, and that is exactly what OSU has this year.

OSU will be the underdog in the semi-final and would likely be a heavy underdog to Bama in the final should they reach that game, and that is exactly where Urban Meyer is at his most dangerous.

When I start to look at all the talent on Clemsons team it gets a little scary. They are better at QB,WR,TE,OL, and DL. We better be on our game against them if they come ready to play because our defense will not be able to stop a focused D. Watson. We definitely havent played anyone that can score like Clemson.I just think its a really tough matchup for us.

In this hypothetical matchup with Clemson

1. are the end zones painted?
2. Does Ohio State wear black jerseys?
3. What color are the Buckeye leaves?

Clemson is indeed very talented and brings pressure on D. Buckeyes would have to get the ball out quickly and up the tempo often, as they tend to do.

On O, Watson has many talented skill players but as good as Watson is, he makes a few brain dead decisions at critical moments all too often. I could see turnovers if it comes to this actually being a semi-final game.

I think vegas has OSU as a favorite over everyone but Bama

You're giving them way too much credit considering their schedule/results.

I don't see how we can beat Bama. They have the best Dline they have ever had. Better than last years which was the best until this years and better than the previous years which was the best ever up until then topping the prior year which was the best ever.

We were big underdogs and couldn't beat them in 14 how the hell are we going to be able to beat them with a young team that is still a year away?

Clemson has been pretty underwhelming most of the season considering their preseason hype.

To me they just feel like FSU in 2014, I wouldn't be shocked if they get blown out by whoever they play in the semi-final if they dont choke to Va Tech (which is entirely possible)

I would argue that we are no different. If we were dominate we would be playing Wisconsin Saturday. That's why I think the 2 vs 3 matchup is going to be an awesome game.

L Pittsburgh* 42-43 (8-4 - 4th in ACC Costal) Rank #25
W Wake Forest 35-13 (6-6 - 5th in ACC Atlantic)
W South Carolina* 56-7 (6-6 - 5th in SEC East)
ACC Champ Game
? Va Tech (9-3 - 1st in ACC Costal) Rank #23

OSU season
W Bowling Green* 77-10 (4-8 - 4th in MAC East)
W Tulsa* 48-3 (9-3 - 2nd in American West)
W Oklahoma 45-24 (9-2 - 1st in Big12) Rank #9
W Rutgers* 58-0 (2-10 - 7th in B10 East)

W Michigan* 30-27 (OT) (10-2 - 3rd in B10 East) Rank #5

(didn't factor VaTech into these totals yet):
Clemson opponent record of 84-58 or 59.1% win rate - 4 ranked teams (none in top 10)
OSU opponent record of 84-59 or 58.7% win rate - 4 ranked teams (all in top 10)

The bad teams we beat (Rutgers and Michigan State) are worse than Clemson's bad opponents (SC State & Syracuse)
The 4 ranked teams we played are better than the 4 ranked teams Clemson has played
3 of our 4 ranked games were AWAY including our loss.
2 of Clemson's 4 ranked games were at HOME including their loss.

We are young, but I think we will be fine.
