Can tOSU be a B-ball school too?

I do not mean to imply that we cannot be both or that football will not always be king, it's just with the ongoing debate about noise levels at the Schott as well as some peoples fear that we would lose Matta to IU I thought it interesting that more people weren't on the b-ball forums. Did not notice the interest in tOSU becoming an open forum school :wink2:

Agree if Matta stays for a while (hopefully 15-20 years) then b-ball will play a very close second fiddle to football and that ain't bad

:oh: :io:

a solution

How about this? Ohio State is simply, "The Buckeyes" or, THE Ohio State University. That says it all.

I look for Oden and the rest of the BB team to be introduced in our first football game. The way Tressel was introduced at a hoops game.

I guess the management types would call this "synergy". One will feed off the other.

Let's let Duke and Georgetown use "basketball school" as their tag.

Go BUCKEYES!

We have 36 Varsity Sports, the largest Athletic Department in the nation, and are a worldwide brand name.

To categorize Ohio State as either a "football school" or "basketball school" would be selling this program short.

Women's Volleyball, Men's and Women's Gymnastics, Soccer, Softball, Baseball, and Hockey are all perennial contenders.

Our commitment to upholding and furthering Title IX makes Ohio State a leader in many women's sports.

Hell if we're anything, we're a "Synchronized Swimming School" having nailed down all but one or two national titles over the last thirty years.

I hope we are never considered a "basketball school" because that would mean that our football program was in the dumps. We will always be considered a football school even if the B-Ball team goes to the final 4 every year.

Regardless of the amount of success any school has in the two sports, if you are at least equally as succcessfull in football, you will be a football school. That's not just tOSU, that's anywhere. Football is simply the more popular sport.

I don't think anyone is "categorizing" any school. Major college sports programs will always be known for their predominant sport...our happens to be football. Being known most for our football prowess in no way diminishes the accomplishments of our other sports...
